Hi!
Got the 1998 Nemrod catalog (the last year that they sold regs). It features the Snark III Silver with silicone hoses and mouthpiece. They offer a "new" balacing kit for this doublehose. Does anybody know something about this kit? Think this could fit the older Nemrod regs as well.
best regards

Does that catalog show their one piece manifold for 2 regulators?

I find it interesting that Nemrod would have to offer a "balancing kit" for the Snark III regulators. With it's upstream design, I don't think there is any advantage to balancing that regulator. They could have more profitably modified the second stage for better LP hoses, and HP gauge outlets (I think their later ones had one, but it would have been better to have two). Or they could have (maybe they did, as I have not seen the Snark III Silver) addressed the venturi hitting the LP diaphargm. Either of these would have made the regulator more marketable.
But balancing the upstream valve, when the difference in psi is maybe 15 psi, is not worth the effort. There would be almost negligible difference on the inhalation resistance, and there is not the problem that a downstream design (read DA Aquamaste) has with the free flow of air at low tank pressures. The Snark III breaths like a Mistral at low tank pressure, very nicely.
Just a thought.

John, what are you doing sucking on a snark, when you got a broXton?!

Chuck, The BroXton is ready to go (I want a bit quieter conditions in the river first), whereas the Snark III is in pieces. I still need to replace that plastic baffle that Nemrod said needed to be replaced because of the stress cracks in it before I get it up and going. I made two dives on July 4th, one with my Nautilus and a Scubapro AIR I, and the other with my USD Mistral and yellow hoses from Dan. But the hoses were a bit short for the harness system I was using, and the BroXton would probably have been more comfortable. I was able to watch a lot of sex happening in the river on that dive though (redsided shiners mating like the ones in the photo below). John
