Just thought I'd help break in the new section with a report on my trip to The Scuba Show in Longbeach, CA, June 21. My first time at this show, it was ok as far as shows go, but what was really good was the two vintage booths. First was the Historical Diving Society. I finally joined. They had the brand new Desco Mark 5 helmet on display that they raffle off. Bought a ticket, I'm gunna win it this year! Also met Norma Hanson, member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame. I bought the new book her and her husband Al Hanson wrote. Very good book, its the life story of Al Hanson, a California hard hat diver who has dove these waters since the 1940's. Also, the Historical Diving Societies latest newsletter has some great double hose reg articles. The other booth was set up by Nick Icorn, an HDS member, and it was an equipment display of early dive gear. He had some great stuff! These two booths made the trip to the show worthwhile for me.

Sounds neat, Dale. We went to a HDS convention in Santa Barbara a few years back, and Dan was most impressed with Nick's booth there, too. He has a terrific collection, and he's very informed as well. Dan loves talking to him. Speaking of regional, Dale, I grew up in Willits and I go there 3-4 a years. Sometimes my mom and I head on down to Costco there in S.R. If I can get Dan to go with us sometime, we'll pop in and say 'howdy' if you're around.

That would be great Linda, I'd love to meet you two. Bring some dive gear and we'll do a vintage dive together. My son lives in Portland, so I may make it up your way before to long. We should set up a northwest get together, I'll bet we could get a few from this board to show up.
