IF were gonna decide where we will dive on sat and sun. Of course that will have to be done over dinner at LENAS SHRIMP HOUSE FLORIDAS BEST! only in that way can a rational decision be made. If we wrap things up at Alexander, friday evening, and move on, where would we all stay after dinner. Ocala maybe? Are there any cheap places there, or will we all camp in the WAL MART parking lot?

Ok, DaysIn in Ocala or in Orange or is that one and the same location? You know, the more I connect all my "vintage gear" up to air sources the more I see pieces, important pieces, exploding and O-rings flying and all sorts of thingys misbehaving. All of a sudden the air, ah, excuse me, gas just does not seem capable of remaining in place inside of any diving device I own. Nemrod

Thursday night March 31st Days Inn in Orange City. Get up early and Dive Blue Springs in Orange City just a mile or so down the street. After we are done diving for the day at Blue Springs we travel north about an hour to Ocala Florida and stay Friday night April 1st at the Days Inn and then dive Alexander Springs early the next morning. Where we go from there is still up in the air...
We knew Orange City Days Inn cause we stayed there last year......I just suggested staying at Days Inn in Ocala cause it was cheap and easy to remember.

I would suggest you STAY put in Orange city that first day and night. Ocala is a long haul from blue spring, and you pass right by ALEXANDER spring, which means you have to double back 35 miles the next morning. Sat morning, drive to Alexander, and dive there, and decide where to hit next. Its one hour from Blue spring to alexander spring. Another 45 minutes to Ocala. Whats for sat afternoon? If we dive alexander, and leave at 8 am for there, we will be there by 9:15 ready to dive. If we dive until noon and then move on, to wherever, we will be going past LENAS, so there goes a couple hours of EATIN! Take the weights off your weightbelts as you wont need them anymore after lunch there! Frogman Jack, Bottom Bob, Deep Dennis, Mike Nelson. Lets have some input from you scuba bums.

The good thing about reservations is that you can always change them this far out......
I am open to any suggestions and any route that works for the majority of the folks. I would like to get a clear agenda as quickly as possible as we have a lot of guest that are traveling from quite a distance and need to make plans as far in advance as possible.
Airfare/Cars/Motels are cheapest when you book months in advance.......They get outrageous at the last minute......
So, for everyone that is planning on going please respond......
Friday dive Blue Springs all day.........Travel to Alexander 1st thing Saturday morning and then decide where to go when we are done diving?

How about Blue Grotto?
Jack mentioned it before in an earlier post.
On a positive note Ocala is between Blue Grotto & Alexander Springs. The downside would be the cost ($27.00 a couple of years ago).
Any thoughts???

I swore I wasn't going to get involved in the "where do we go next" discussion again, but I see it floundering, and Bryan's right that we need to set in place the Friday and Saturday dives. The co$t i$$ues are a real consideration. As far as my plans go, I booked Friday and Saturday nights at the Orange City Days Inn. I'm still a strong proponent of diving The Blue Grotto because of its location in Williston and the dive opportunities it affords us. Screw the entry fee, this dive is more than worth the money. Sunday morning can be decided when we're there. It's only going to be morning diving anyway because people will be leaving in the afternoon. If we dive The Grotto, staying at the Ocala Days Inn is a great idea, and at this point very easy for us to switch reservation dates. So, spend Friday at Blue, Saturday morning at Alexander and afternoon at The Grotto. Decide on Sunday morning's dive at dinner Saturday night. My thoughts, Jack.

I have never dived any of those location s best of my recollection. I suppose after having driven across half the country a small 27 dollars entry fee is nothing even to consider. I am still confused as to which Days Inn we are speaking off. I have dived springs and caves and sinks, Troy, Morrison, Ginny, Devils Eye, Blue on the Withalahooche (spelling?), unknown sinks and springs near Valdosta Ga, Little River, Peacock and many many more but mostly in the northern part of the state and into Ga. This was much during a time when the only people there would be me!!!!! What's in these central Fla springs, fish?, critters, grasses?--manatees?, and I assume a bunch of other divers? Well, whatever, it will be fun nontheless if the drive doesn't kill me. Nemrod

Are you sure they will let people with vintage gear dive there? When I went to pennecamp they wouldnt let me dive there. And that was the OCEAN! Likely sure if they saw us, they would bring out the stretchers, and wheelchairs, and move us to the parking lot. $27.00 sounds fishy. For that kind of money just go to manatee, where we know theres no hassle for our gear, and we can pump our own air there too. Whos bringin the sand dogs?

Let's put Chucko in a cage and throw the key away. ;D Let's also not let Chuck eat a Lena's while we gorge ourselves while Chuckie has to watch and eat his heart out. >(( Chuck if we're low key at The Grotto, we'll be fine. It has a large open area around the basin and if we locate ourselves in the right place we'll be ok. ;D Bryan, you're correct about the staying where locations on the stated days. Keep smiling all, Jack.

I have been reading with interest, all the input about the vintage divers. Thats great! Ill drive over and join you. Did you see Martha Stewart is going to host the "apprentice" tv show. This means my sea hunt show will be canned. Like fish! If this happens Ill dump my television in the sinkhole and wedge it under a big rock, where it cant hurt anybody. You guys can use it for speargun practice.
