Gayle, This looks like a very interesting event. Too bad Chicago is so far from Florida. If I lived any closer I'd take you up on your offer. Have a great time!

I noticed that Dr. Phil Nuytten is scheduled to be a speaker at this event. I sure wish that I was able to hear him speak.
Here's his bio from the Our World Underwater website:

Our World was a very fine production this year. I didn't have a chance to meet Phil, as I had a few other things to tend to. If you can go next year, it would be worth your time. Bob Marx had a great black and white film of early diving. I'll try and snag a copy of it for the Portage dive. He's off to Japan, and I don't know when he'll be back, but I'll ask if I can have it to copy while he's gone. The atmosphere of diving, my opinion only, has seemed to have changed to two groups. The hi-tech dudes, and the laid back sport diving..trip going folks. Hi tech gear wasn't promoted a whole bunch which I thought rather interesting. It was the actual regular type of diving with safety concerns, no extra gear hanging about and just making it simple to dive. If anyone is really interested in going next year, I did bring home two extra Show Guides. I'd be happy to mail you one, or read one then pass it on to another person who was interested. pass one around. It will give you an idea of what the programs were and speakers etc. It is also a Dive Chronicles magazine. Gayle
