Hello, Vintage Divers!
People have been asking lately when the Wazee event will take place, so we'll post the info here, and I'll get it up on our site in just a few minutes (I hope!) We posted the dates earlier in the announcements section, but I think it's best if we put it here, too, in the regional section.
The 3rd Annual Vintage Dive Assembly is scheduled once again for the first weekend in August at Lake Wazee near Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Official dates will be Thursday-Sunday, August 3-6, 2006. Reserve a spot on your calendar now so that you can attend the event!! Participation nearly doubled last year, and we are hoping for an even greater turn-out this year.
We hope to have a brainstorming session soon, by live chat, and all of you will be invited to attend. If you have any suggestions regarding activities, events, presentations, guest speakers, or if you would like to do a presentation yourself, please let us know. We can't wait to hear your ideas!
Stay tuned for chat date and time... We will probably do it sometime in mid-late April.

If anyone is wondering what will happen at Wazee this year, we are still setting up the event schedule, and I hope to add it to the web site soon... Thank you for your patience so far! If you have attended in previous years, you pretty much know what to expect, except this year will be bigger and better (of course). We hope to add a treasure hunt event to the schedule this time, in addition to the other exciting activities. Thus far you can expect a treasure hunt, our usual "record number" of vintage divers in the water at one time, a presention by Ryan Spence that is guaranteed to be something YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS, a juicy barbecue, a "buy, sell, trade" table, more Sea Hunt films, and some personal 8mm vintage dive club (including underwater) footage by Gayle Peterson. If you don't know Gayle, read her blog here: www.xanga.com/pearldiver123She is a very talented and capable human being that you'll be please to meet if you haven't already. The aforementioned will most likely all occur on Saturday, August 5th. We are still firming up plans for Friday, August 4th, so stay tuned for more exciting events!

Is there anyone out there that can bring a LCD projector? I need one for the film and slide show portion of my presentation. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. -Ryan

What's the best/nearest airport to fly into for the Lake Wazee event? Also, is there a link that details the various details about the area (i.e. lodging, etc.) Thanks in advance!

Joe, if you fly into Minneapolis and don't care about renting your own car, you can ride with us to Wazee, but Dan and I will probably get there either Wed. night or Thurs. morning... It is about 3 hrs. from MPLS to Wazee. We will be camping at the campground. There are plenty of other Inland Divers members coming from Minneapolis to Wazee, and probably at different times, Thursday, or Friday.... Some last year came on Saturday! I bet you can ride with SOMEONE if we get the word out... There are some nice hotels in the area. I think they are only about 3 miles from the lake? Frans, Jerry Lang, and I think James (?) were some of the guys that stayed there... Maybe they can chime in with price, etc. Let me get the word out and we'll get more info... I thought we had the hotel info on the page, but I guess not! .........Okay, Joe, I found more info here in this thread from the 1st Wazee dive: vintagescuba.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=regional&action=display&n=1&thread=1074&page=1The motels are listed there with phone numbers if you want to call for prices. Frans stayed at the Arrowhead and he states the price (two years ago). I know it is only minutes away. Camping is fun, too, though! You don't have to bring a lot of camping gear. There are a lot of us there that bring "a lot", so we have resources for those who can't bring a lot... Luis flew in last year and camped, so he can probably give you a good idea of what it's like.

Bryan Pennington will be taking photos at Wazee of those individuals who wish to sign up for the National Association of Vintage Equipment Divers (NAVED). There will be a $15 processing fee for each card. Bring your vintage equipment!
Bryan will also have his Royal Aqua-Master with the Phoenix nozzle conversion and prototype silicone diaphragm available for the entire weekend for everyone to take a test dive with. It has a pressure gauge, safe 2nd stage and standard LP inflator hose attached. This should work for 99% of the divers that want to use a 2 hoser with all the attachments.

Heah; it looks as though I'm finally going to make it. If all goes as planned I'll be leaving Benzonia, Michigan early on Thursday morning and arriving at Wazee later that day. I've missed the last two years and have really wanted to attend and get the chance to meet everyone. I'll probably get a room at one of the motels; so if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations all comments are welcomed. See you then. Terry Stevens AKA Vintagediver ;D

The timing is terrible but I just learned that my military unit has been chosen for a surprise major inspection. As the Executive Officer I must be present. Dan and Linda & all other Lake Wazee Vintage divers, as you have guessed by now I must cancel my travel plans and won't be able to attend this awesome event and will really miss seeing everyone. Dive safe, stay warm and have a great time! Maybe next year the stars will align in my favor....

Oh, too bad, Joe! Although I should talk.... At the last minute, I didn't go, either. Actually it wasn't a last minute decision - more of a "last month" decision. Too many art shows going on right now, and if I were away, I could not participate! I got a piece juried into the Oregon State Fair (yay!!) and I am also participating in two other local shows. And as y'all know, I'm an artist and web site designer - not a diver (although I am a good helper and last year I learned that I could manage four cameras all at once!). Anyway... Dan went alone - he has a good team of helpers, though. Dave, Gayle, Mike, Jerry, and others... I am sure it is something we will both be sorry we missed, though. Oh well... maybe next year!
