Only six more weeks and it's time to head out for another great time at Wazee, and I'd like some input from anyone familiar with traveling in Wisconsin. I live just south of Traverse City, Michigan, and when I went to Wazee last year everyone I talked to said for me to take the route through Michigans UP over to Escanaba and then down into Wisconsin. I took their advice and the trip went well; but I am somewhat uncertain about a better route in Wisconsin itself. When I traveled last year I checked Mapquest on the internet and according to their directions I traveled south on M35 from Escanaba, Michigan to U.S. 41/141 to Oshkosh; then west on 21 to I94, and then continued west to the exit on Hwy 54 at Black River Falls (the exit at Wazee). After making this trip I noticed that Hwy 54 runs from Black River Falls east over to Green Bay. I guess my question is; how much better would it have been if I had just headed west on Hwy 54 from Green Bay over to Wazee? Also; are there any other routes that anyone familiar with travel in Wisconsin would suggest? I don't want to take the southern route through Chicago due to the traffic and road work that is usually going on in that area. I'd like to have some sanity left when I get to Wazee ;D! I will be traveling the northern route again this year; but I am open to any and all suggestions that any of you have once I enter Wisconsin. Looking forward to seeing all of you soon! Terry Stevens

Hey Terry, After having spent many mornings fishing from the Frankfort Pier, watching the car ferries come and go, it made me think about the SS Badger. If you can fit it into your schedule it might be a fun and reasonably priced alternative to driving around the lake. According to the Badgers website ( www.ssbadger.com/content.aspx?Page=home ) the trip from Ludington to Manitowoc takes about 4 hours and costs ~60 each way for a car and passengers are ~$60 one way or $100 round trip. I know it would be more relaxing than sitting in Chicagoland traffic!

Hi BLT: Thanks for the suggestion in regards to The Badger, and at some point I may very well do that. I'll be traveling by car though, and will also be making a stop in Iron Mountain, Michigan to visit my parents. Sounds like you're familiar with the area that I live in; did you live in this area, or visit? Thanks for your reply, and hope to see you at Wazee. Terry
