Go to www.hardhatdivers.org Many of our divers come from Long Island, NYC, NJ and southern NE. Come to some of our dive rally events in PA (Memorial/Labor Days - check web page for schedule)

Hello everyone
I am part of a group of divers that charters a 50' dive boat out of Freeport, NY every Sunday from Memorial day to Labor day. We then continue to dive weekly as the weather and boat load allow. I was wondering if there would be any intrest in putting together a Vintage Dive Day this summer. We typically dive 90+ feet. The best wreck for a mixed group of divers would be the USS San Diego which lies turtled in 90 feet of water. The top of the hull is at 70 feet and the visability tends to be good. We typically do two dives with ample surface interval. The day would start with boarding at about 5AM and we typically get back to dock by 5PM. Late June or July would be good from a planning point of view. Cost would be $100 for the boat ride plus tip for the crew and your lunch. Lets go diving!

I am in with Caveman. Pick a date. USS San Diego. Have not been on it since Mid 90's? Can't remember for sure.

Setting it up will be easy. Just about any Sunday is good for me. Shoot some dates that will work, maybe others will join in and I will set up a vintage Guest day on the boat. Once I know how many I will let you know exact price and details. The only potential problem I for see is pressure gages. Does everyone use an spg of some sort John

Gages of some sort or pony bottles can be arranged.

Our dive charter will start June 8th. If anyone is still interested in a vintage dive day let me know.

Ok we had our first charter dive of the season and all went well. I spoke with the Owner/Captain of the boat and he has no problem with the Vintage Dive Gear. We can dive any configuration we are confortable with. The charter is Every Sunday except when the boat is on the Andrea Doria or the Carolina. Both are special overnight charters. So now if there is interest lets start planning. The best first dive would be the USS San Diego, a 70 - 110 foot dive. If all goes well we can plan other dives near the same depth or deeper.

We are currently planning a dive on the San Diego for September 28, a Sunday. If any one is interested please e-mail me and we can go over the details. I have already cleared the vintage gear with the boat. You can dive any configuration you are comfortable with.
