I am so glad you wanted to dive this helmet. I have a friend who has Nemo"s helmet from the 1914 Willams version of 20,000. I don't know for a fact that it is the original helmet but it is very cool. It has a porthole for the faceplate. I have a picture of it someplace. I will see if I can find it

Hi Pat, been following Disney for many years now. Just last week we got back from EPCOT diving the MKV and other heavy gear there. Several years ago I was able to examine the Nemo suit at the Living Seas. It appeared to be an copper helmet but many parts were fiberglass. When they changed the theme to "Finding Nemo" this disappeared. I am involved in many of the dive shows and museums and always wanted to do a Nemo suit display. Do you make these repo helmets or know where one can be bought or loaned for a display. I do have access to a fiberglass repro but would like to know who makes them and who to contact. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob Rusnak East Coast Rep. Historical Diving Society.....

We'd spoken about your visit to EPCOT some time ago. The suit you saw was a replica of the Crew Diver rig put together by Imagineer Tom Scherman for the display. I've always thought the basic helmet was authentic but then Tom had to manufacture many of the parts himself (braile nuts?) out of wood or fiberglass. I think that set of duals is fiberglass too, but Tom didn't make them. The glass tanks were used for the dry and dry-for-wet scenes where the actual actors played the parts and weight was a factor. I do make functional replicas (all metal) of the Leagues helmets; have three fiberglass hats I started years ago and may finish sometime in the near future. I've seen a couple other guys make replicas of the Nemo (headlamp) but they were based on mine and I don't believe those guys are into making replicas for sale. I'm aware you found a fiberglass Crowntop Crew Diver replica on eBay and bought it, so I'll guess that satisfies your need for a helmet. Thanks for the info. VBR, Pat
