Greetings, all. Some of you might be interested in my new charter boat business serving the upper and middle Florida Keys. Here are a few quick highlights: - 40' Mainship motoryacht - $65 per person for dive trips - You pick the reef - Sodas and snacks on the way out, sodas and beer on the way back - No strict time limit on the dive. Check your gear, dive when you want - No dif between one or two tanks, and we'll do a second reef as long as it's close - Bring a lunch if you want (there's a great deli nearby) - Full bathroom for your convenience - Outside fresh-water shower to rinse off the saltwater And the boat, itself, is a blast. Because of its ingenious design, you can safely walk from the flybridge out to the foredeck, everyone's favorite place to ride, and there's a padded bench seat to sit on. Here's the home site: www.premierecharter.com Hope to see you aboard! Cap'n Chuck

Since this is a vintage dive message board, what is your policy on gear configuration?

boiler -
Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier on this. I was expecting the forum software to notify me if there was a reply to my post.
As far as equipment goes, doesn't make any dif to me. Can't even figure out why it should. Hell, you could go down in a diving bell if you wanted. (I'll need advance warning so I can strengthen the davit)
Had a gas out there today. Brought three guys who saw my ad on ScubaBoard.com. They first dove the Duane, then we tooled over to a nearby reef and they spent an hour poking around the place. We drank sodas and played sea songs on the CD player and putted around in a gorgeous 40' motoryacht on a crystal-clear ocean beneath sunny skies. Not a bad way to spend 65 clams.
Best regards, Cap'n Chuck

Looks nice. Prices sound good, also. Here in sunny Calif. most dive boats charge like $90 for a two morning dives. Too bad I'm not in Florida .....

Chico, eh? One of the prettiest locations in CA. Is it still Party Town USA? I hung out there for a while back in the 70's and the local college kids were a serious bunch of partiers. I think they were trying to give the UC of Santa Cruz a run for its money.
As far as diving in CA goes, though, br-rr-rr! After diving for years in Hawaii, I give Monterrey a try a few times and I think I'm still shivering. I really hope you can make it down here someday. Did you see the animation on my home page? It's not far from that in places. And the sea fans of the middle reefs are supposed to be breathtaking*.
*probably not a good word to use in a scuba forum. :)

Chuck, It's not that cold! Here's me at the Feather River in Oroville, CA Water temps are 54 to 58 degrees F. I would cook if I wore more than a shorty! Chico State is the party college ... when I got my BS degree the final exam question was "how many types of beer the Red & Grey serves?" The correct answer was 71. They had one special beer from Germany that wasn't on the menu. Talk about a trick question! On the wall they listed 63 and the menu listed 70. Robert

The only place I've dove in Florida was Pensacola. The first open water class (NASDS or How to Buy ScubaPro) was there, many years ago. The clearest water I've saw while there was in Gulf Shores, AL. I had a weekend pass, I was stationed at the Naval Technical Training Center; so, I took all my gear and rode my bicycle there (one of the crazy things I did when I was younger). The sand on the beaches there was like glass and I got burnt. The white sand made for great visability. The ride back was a little challanging. It didn't feel good and I got chewed out for getting burnt when I got back to base. Have you ever dove in Alabama?
