When attaching your SPG to the tank valve HP outlet, like the Dacor valves are well known, do you have to do it when the tank is empty?
Is the air flow through the outlet controlled by the valve? Or is it a straight shot into the tank?
It seems the folks who are using these valves in combo with an SPG, leave the HP hose attached all the time.

You can attach it with the tank full of air. HP air only goes to the outlet if the air is turned on. I like to take my tanks to the dive stores with the spg's attached to get air fills. Sometimes they look at me strange when I tell them they don't have to take off the gauges to fill the tanks ... usually, those doing the fills haven't been into diving very long.

As Bob said, the ports are downstream to the valve, so you can put the SPGs on and take them off with a pressurized tank. IIRC, it uses a 3/8" plug, so either use an old style HP hose, or get one of the HP adapters available.

I think I've got a few Dacor J valves too. I'm slowly emptying my boxes and drawers of stuff that I'll never use. Last month I sent out 6 old moisture separators for air fill systems.
I'll check and see how many valves I have. Let me know if you are interested. That classic Healthways tank is still waiting for a good home.
Good Dives,
Charlie
