It also wasn't spooked by me. Yeah, but were YOU spooked by IT?! I think if I came upon a huge fish in our four foot vis I'd be a bit rattled at first! That's pretty cool though. I've often wondered why I haven't seen any sturgeon in our river here yet. I think the adjoining Sacramento River has more than our Feather River, but I know the odd few are around- or so say the fisherman.

I have one of these I had not tried to use yet. Think we will have to check it over and try a dive with it. Thanks for all the info and pictures.

Duckbill, last year was a definite startle reaction when I saw the sturgeon. This year it was more like amazement rather than startle. It is probably because this huge sturgeon didn't startle at seeing me, so my reaction was not so dramatic either. A sturgeon this size is probably 40-50 years old, and it was reacting as an elder statesman. gi1963, be sure to get used to the Dacor Nautilus in a pool, using the Dacor training materials before you take it into open water. This is a unique unit, and Dacor required anyone buying one to take a training course, and they serial numbered each unit. It is a great unit, but you need to understand the physics of the unit to use it safely. If you need a copy of that training course, I have one. Send me a Personal Message (PM) with your e-mail and I'll send it to you. John

Okay, I'm actually actively working on my first Dacor Nautilus CVS, and trying to make a regulator for it. I'll detail it later. But I wanted to re-activate this thread as the Dacor Nautilus CVS (Constant Volume System) has interested me again, and I'm getting another vintage diver interested in it too.
