After Feather River dive today ... Went to Walmart, put my digital camera down on the counter ... It was too close to the demagnitizer they use for their security system .... all memory, including pictures from dive today, was ereased on my SD card ... I need a Nikonos RS and a big supply of film! never had this problem with my Nikonos cameras! Sorta hard to de-magnitize film ... I'm really bummed out. The fire-works videos from the Forth of July, also deleted ... I wish I would have had my Nik 4A or 5 with me today ... Robert

Ouch. That's really sad.

That's too bad. Thanks for sharing the advice. What a heartbreak.
Security, huh?......if you had gone through airport security, your digital would be fine but you might have lost your film exposures. Just about everything has its Achilles heel. I wonder how many untold thousands of watches and credit cards have met their doom near those doggon counter magnets.

Sorry to hear that Bob. This is why I still like old technology, it may not be high tech but it was usually more reliable. Then again, if I had my way we would still be fighting wars with swords, if we had to fight. ;D
