just wanted to say hello - my name is Achim, 41 from Germany. Diving since childhood and basically collecting since that time as well. I am happy I found this community and hope for some nice chats and some cool collectibles to see :-)
thanks for your nice post. The plates are from an italien WW2 destroyer in the med. that was later used by teh germans - pretty cool wreck, we found stakes of plates, mixed; italien and german.. the pistol is from a lake in switzerland - mid 18th cent. The collection is a mix of findings and vintage gear. I was building the collection since childhood, but one divorce later and one house less it became difficult to have all on display, so most of it was in storage for the past ten years as i was traveling (professional diver and journalist) now I settled again with my wife and my two newborn boys and start to unpack boxes - a bit like xmas after all those years :-) collecting scuba gear here is not that popular as it is in the us or the uk, so beside some findings on ebay from time to time, it is more trying to find other collectors for trades and sharing information.
Achim, again, welcome; you've come to the right place! I'm a fine as well as graphic artist and writer, with dyslexia--go figure that one out! I'm also a smarty-pants. I love anything old, from movies and music, my oldest record, a 78 RPM is from 1904, cars, vacuum-tube radios and TV's, firearms, books, and of course old scuba gear. I love figuring how and why something works, so I have a good-reputation for being able to fix almost anything that's broken, which is why I like playing old dive gear, seeing how they are different.
