I just won a Sportsways Walterlung Navy Unit II, haven't gotten it yet though: I can't find much info out there about them. This one is an unbalanced downstream-valve, the Hydronaut was their balanced reg. I know that Sam Lecocq worked for Healthways, then helped start Sportsways: he took some of the technology with him, like the high-pressure valve-assembly, which can be found in both the HW double hose Scubas and I know quite a few SW regs. From what I've been able to find the diaphragm in the second stage is larger than the those used by Aqualung, which is sounding, to me anyway, a lot like what is in HW single hose regs: anyone know if they are close enough to use, or if a modern diaphragm will work? More pix when I get it, Jaybird

I'd have to check at shop, but I'm pretty sure I have a few HP seats for that sucker.

I was able to glean this: from this site: www.therebreathersite.eu/Eurotek2010/MENU.htmI got this: a couple of years ago. I need to get another tube, and I want to find some glow in the dark plastic to replace the yellow strip of plastic behind the tube. I have a new silicone Healthways diaphragm that I'm hoping will work. Sitka-Dave gave me a Navy Unit-I first stage, that his friend had been using to regulate an air compressor: it was a whole lot of nasty, but I think I got it in working condition. Jaybird

Charlie, thanks! I remember that you do...
Oh, another reason I got it is that it came with the Sportsways SPG!

Jaybird, that's actually a pretty good regulator. It has the HP port at an angle, and enough LP ports to have an octopus and LP inflator hose.

John, I was hoping you'd say that... I haven't heard anything bad about them. I know people get super-excited about their top of the line stuff.

As promised, here are some pix: I was able to get two NOS diaphragms, and some new silicone exhaust-valves for it, and some of my other regs. I did John's trick of smearing it and massaging the new diaphragm with silicone: to soften and more-so, help to preserve it. It has a welt that runs along the outer edge to keep it from walking, so the silicone I used won't be detrimental, as it would be with a USD diaphragm. The diaphragm is made exactly like the Healthways: neoprene impregnated nylon. Here is an image of the first stage and Sea-View SPG! As John mentioned above it has ALL the ports I need: three LP and one HP... super keen, eh? Jaybird

Nice Jaybird. Would your LDS happen to have another diaphragm? The one in my Malibu diver is kinda crusty. Mind if I ask what he charged ya?

This right here is what I think I will be looking for when the time is right. Sort of like the Malibu Diver as well. Dredging all these old topics from the past... Mark

Mark, if I recall correctly, Sportsways had the first single hose reg. on the market, and that was their Waterlung, which they later renamed the Malibu Diver. The first ones were a diaphragm regulator, later models used a piston first stage. The original second stages used a neoprene diaphragm, but they quickly changed that to a neoprene-impregnated type like those of Healthways.

Over a year later on an already old topic... Every time I see a single hose reg being dived on "Sea Hunt" is is a Sportsways/Waterlung. Mark
