Mark, I know it seems like a dirty trick, but that was kinda my way of forcing you to work on your own gear! The only thing you need to adjust those second stages is a slot tip screw driver, for the black label, to pry out the plastic quick clip, and a pliers for the blue label: wrap the jaws in masking tape so as not to scratch up the chrome. To adjust them, all’s ya need is a 1/4-inch spanner (wrench). Anti-clockwise to reduce the airflow, and clockwise to give more flow; I threw some of that British-jargon in there just for you… Jaybird

Yes, I got it sussed out LOL! I got my US Divers Mistral back together with little drama, but it is an easy reg to work on. I don't plan on playing with the Healthways Scuba Star until after Christmas, but if I do have questions...and I still have your Email as well. I'd love to take my US Divers Calypso-J 1st Stage apart sometime this Winter as well. I took the 2nd stage apart, and I did not see much to go wrong, the diaphragm looked good and it breathed alright underwater. But would like to see how the 1st Stage looks and that is uncharted territory for me...but that will be later. Thanks Mark

Mark, the USD gizzards are pretty easy to work on. The USD is a balanced flow through piston: the air passes through the shaft of the piston. The HW is an unbalanced flow by piston: the valve seat is actually pressed into the piston's end. When the piston moves down, caused by a change in pressure, your breathing, the air flows past the piston-seat combination. In short, the way to tel a flow by from a flow through, is the placement of the hoses: FLOW THROUGH:FLOW BY:The flow by has them on the sides, and the equalizing ports at the end of the piston... Oh and, BTW, that green label HW uses the EXACT same gizzards as your Calypso! JB
