Jay,
Early versions of the Mark V with the 2-port swivel secured the swivel with a circlip. These were recalled in the late 70's or early 80's and replaced a swivel that was secured by a threaded retainer. The circlip can weaken allowing the swivel to blow off. This would adversely affect the breathing characteristics of the regulator. Eventually Scubapro went with a 5-port swivel.
There's no way to tell how your swivel is retained without removing the cap and swivel. I'm guessing you've already taken this thing apart, so know what holds it together.
Good Dives,
Charlie

Charlie, no, I have only taken the second stage apart. It does work, but have never had it in the pool. BTW thanks for the heads up. I'm guessing it has the circlip, because the second stage has the original, um, guts: gosh, can you call what's in a 109 a poppet?

Jaybird, To figure out if yours has the circlip or not, you need to take the first stage apart. There is a special wrench, with a "C" shaped hook, needed to do that. Screw in a 16 gm CO2 cartridge into a LP port (actually, on yours it should screw into both LP and HP ports), then use this wrench to unscrew the top part of the first stage. Looking from the underside, you can see whether it is a nut or circlip that holds it together. If you don't have the wrench, Charlie could probably help you find one. Here's a diagram to show how it's put together, from the manual. John

Hi yeldarb54,
Please check: It should be "4" not "A" - so the complete number to be 4260109. Is that correct?
