Fortune Pond June 17-18 Update - It's looking like a pretty good sized group is heading up to Fortune. Jerry's coming with Chuck. Tom and Becky, Nanette and Jill... These are the Twin Cities divers. From Alexandria, we have me, Rich, and Terry Bodine (a local PADI instructor)... And maybe my wife Jill if Becky is able to come up with Tom (she's got to get off work). I think Diver Don Fassbender may come down from Marquette. I sent a note to the Deep Six Divers club in Wisconsin so there may be a few from there as well. - Fathers Day Thoughts: At least for me, the trip and the holiday are compatible. I'll return home Saturday night and enjoy Fathers Day Sunday with my family.

- Looks like we'll have a pretty good turnout for this dive. My wife Jill, me, Rich and Terry Bodine will be driving over from Alexandria. SheriffDiver, Sea HUnt Jerry, Tom, Dan, Nanette, and Jill M will be coming from the Twin Cities. Diver Don from Marquette. We're aiming to arrive around noon Friday and get in 2-3 dives before going out to dinner Friday night. I'll have my little grill and some cheddar brats for Lunch Friday. Jerry's bringing his favorite BallPark Franks. Feel free to chip in food, snacks, chips, etc. - Most are staying at the Lakeshore Motel or AmericInn in Iron River. Tom has found a campground about 5 miles outside of Crystal Falls. "Paint River Hills Campground". - Gotta fill some tanks tonight and then I'll be ready to hit the road for Fortune!

Got the truck mostly packed for the trip to Fortune Pond. I'll get there late Thursday night and be diving Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I think this equipment should be enough... 3 sets of double 72's. 2 sets of double 50's. Three 80's, One 50 the then inside the truck is my UDS-1 triples.

Awesome dives, JB. You should've been there got to try out my double 72s and my Gold label HW with that recently fixed HP mouthpiece ~ very nice. My Gopro was full as I forgot to delete the vids from the last trip down here , so I won't have anything to post. EBen will probably have a lot more info on the trip soon. I was only able to make a couple dives Saturday, but there were more than a couple Gopro going and quite a few DH regs so stay tuned! DD

Eb, thanks fer postin' the pix; looks like you guys had fun, I'm glad too! Hey, how'd that Spanish reg of yours work, huh? JB - My Nemrod Snark III worked great. I have dived this reg 5-6 times now and it breathes so easy and reliably that I find myself forgetting that I am using something different than my tried and true AquaLung and Voit regs. It's pretty much totally re-built even though HP seat, 1st stage diaphragm, and 2nd stage seat are still original. I replaced the 1st stage diaphragm gasket with the perfect fitting DAAM brand new nylon gasket. That solved a leak. I cleaned and serviced the overpressure valve. Replaced the 2nd stage diaphragm with a brand new silicon diaphragm from VDH. And I replaced the mushroom exhaust valve with a brand new (old stock) rubber one from my new Spanish friend Enrique Dauner. Large diameter hoses, mouthpiece, and valves I got from Rob at Scuba Museum. It is now a VERY nice breathing regulator. Hi Ron, - Sorry you had to go home Friday night. We had a lot of divers fanning the silt on Friday and if you weren't able to swim clear of it, you experienced reduced visibility. We shot the Twin 42/Snark III theme dive video on the first dive of the day Saturday and we swam further down the shoreline to experience the usual pristine visibility. I estimate 70-80 ft viz on this trip.
