All is well here JB, working a ton of hours and waiting for the gas company to replace my stove. My LDS has a special every November …. 50% off labor, Hydro-vis-fill is $25, vis and fill is 12.50. I dropped 4 of my tanks off the other day.
How are you doing with the fires out there?

I think they are out for the most part: with fires that big, they can smolder beneath the ground and inside tree trunks for months. I'd be pretty bummed if anything happened to my stove: But the really good thing is, I can replace it: my family and friends are something totally different though! Good, I'm glad to hear you're good on your end JB

Skip, can we assume you got everything working again, I hope?

Thanks for asking JB. My stove still isn't hooked up. I had to remove a couple of cabinets to meet the minimum clearance required by code. I had to wait for the gas company to send an adjuster out. I was hoping they would pay a handyman (my dive buddy) $350.00-$400.00 to cut the cabinet down. They opted to cut me check for $7037.00 for all new cabinets. My buddy came over yesterday and we took the cabinets out that had to be removed. Now I can get the stove hooked up. I have been playing a little bit with trying to get the Snark 3 working. I've picked up a couple more projects, a Snark 2, and a Sportsways single hose.

Good to know you're getting things worked out: slowly is better than not at all, right? Will you please share the Sportsways with us, oh and the Nemrod too, but I really dig on SW-gear! Ahhh-geeze: someone on my Coleman-lantern forum is sending me an old Palmpilot-PDA from the 1990's: I really have no idea what I can do with it, but it'll be fun to play with... JB

When I started working on this Snark 3, if I put it on a tank with the second and third (safety) stages removed no air would flow through it. I had a few minutes today so after taking the entire reg apart and cleaning everything, along with replacing the HP diaphragm with a USD replacement (Thanks for the tip Phil)air now flows. I'm on to putting the second stage and safety back in to see if it will work again. I hope to get this reg back to working condition and tuned the way it was because this was by far (I know I'm gonna get flak for this)the best breathing reg I have ever used....Bar None

Guys I just realized I have to get my butt in gear on this Snark3. Red Sox pitchers and catchers reported to spring training today. That means summer and diving is right around the corner

Phil, I made an LP port tap. I haven't tried it under pressure yet, but as long as it seals it should do what I want

I hooked the Snark project to a tank this morning. I've got air flowing through it now, which is a step in the right direction. On this reg the IP adjusting screw has a hole in it. I've got an air leak coming through that hole. I'm thinking I've got either a HP seat, or HP diaphragm leak. Can anybody confirm this for me, or point me in another direction.

On a good note I picked up another Snark3. This one is a little later than my current project, shiny chrome vs. satin and a higher serial #. The hoses look good and it looks pretty clean overall, so I figured what the heck I'll hook it to a tank and to my surprise it works perfectly. When I'm done with the current project I may open it up and check the diaphragm and exhaust valve, this one will be back in the water this summer.

I've got an air leak coming through that hole. I'm thinking I've got either a HP seat, or HP diaphragm leak. Can anybody confirm this for me, or point me in another direction. I know it's been said repeatedly, but REMEMBER that this is an upstream second stage and it will hold pressure until the HP diaphragm blows! If your OPV is stuck, or adjusted too tight, runaway IP is dangerous!
Be sure to check your washer/rubber seal under the OPV to be sure the the hole isn't plugged when the OPV is screwed in. I'm wondering if your HP diaphragm is leaking and acting as an OPV!
You really should be using a gauge to do this. I had a Snark that I could not get the IP adjusted. The adjuster was backed out so far it was barely threaded in and it was still blowing the OPV hard. I had to add gaskets under the spring holder to get enough tension off the spring.
Of course, you need some sort of adapter to use a gauge. I believe you said you made one, but I have an adapter if you need one.
This leads to another warning! It's smart to use a gauge with a pressure release valve AND an OPV. Keep the release valve open when you pressurize the regulator, then carefully close it to see the IP. You can easily destroy or screw up a gauge if it is pressurized beyond its scale. In general, be sure your HP diaphragm gaskets are good (there should probably be a couple or three nylon or phenolic gaskets stacked in there to make up for the paper and rubber ones), the spring retainer is cranked down tight, and the IP adjuster is backed out until there's little or no tension on the spring. If you can't get the tension to nearly none with the adjuster still threaded in pretty well, you need to add gaskets under the spring holder. Gaskets for the DA will work fine. I hope this helps! <iframe width="18.379999999999995" height="3.5600000000000023" style="position: absolute; width: 18.379999999999995px; height: 3.5600000000000023px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_71333019" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.379999999999995" height="3.5600000000000023" style="position: absolute; width: 18.38px; height: 3.56px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 864px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_75396179" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.379999999999995" height="3.5600000000000023" style="position: absolute; width: 18.38px; height: 3.56px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 118px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_1086204" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.379999999999995" height="3.5600000000000023" style="position: absolute; width: 18.38px; height: 3.56px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 864px; top: 118px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_71647387" scrolling="no"></iframe>
