Yesterday, I was able to pick up a package I had been sent from Howard. This package contained my salvation. Inside, was a comeplete sherwood manifold. The chrome was immaculate, the J valve wasn't pristine, and it was packaged perfectly.
After bringing it home across the border, and paying duty on it, I pieced it together on my work bench and added the valve post from the other manifold. Now it has a J valve, and the two posts.
I'd like to thank Howard who kindly sent me this manifold (free of shipping and charge too) as well as a Calypso regulator. I'd be happy to do business with Howard again anytime in the future!
I've also decided what tanks I'll use for the manifold. Dual steel 72s that I located for a cheap price.

So the other manifold never come apart? John Well, it's a work in progress. Half of it came apart. I guess it's a technical success as I got what I needed. I'll have to try some unconventional warfare on that manifold.

Howard pointed out to me yesterday that I made a mistake in my post. I said that the J valve wasn't pristine, but I meant to say WAS. I have an autocorrect program on my iPhone and I'm sure all of us can attest to having it accidentally "autocorrect" a word and permantly mess up the sentence.

TD, my auto-correct was working! It's an App that I use called dyslexia: you should see some of the words it changes instantly for me Anyway, I read it the way you had intended JB

Not trying to bash using these older valves as that is all I have.....even have one USD twin setup that is new old stock, even has the cardboard thread protectors on it......saving it for a rainy day. However, back in the days when I was designing and building my Mk3 I found a company, actually two, but one in particular that is based in Taiwan. They and the other company build many of the brands of regulators and accessories found around the world......including tank valves and manifolds. One's dive shop could order these for you. If someone is looking for a single post, dual tank manifold, here's your sign: www.wmd.com.tw/products/item/572

I need a favour done from anyone who is willing to help! Could you measure the space between the tanks when you have set up the Sherwood Manifold? I'm currently planning out what bands I'll need, but that's one measurement that I don't have.
Also, which bands do you use?

It looks like my 50's are about 1.20 inches apart at the bottom. I used a Scubapro twin setup with a nylon band from the 80's. It allows me mount a Stab Jacket or standard pack with a couple of wing nuts. Of course, these are 50's with a 6.9" diameter, the same as steel 72's. What cylinders are you planning to use? Charlie IMG_1530 by Charlie will, on Flickr I plan on using Steel 72's and since the diameter is the same the space between should be the same between our tanks. I was told that I'd need a special type of band from the 80s for the Sherwood valves, due to spacing between tanks. I've been told from DGX that 7.25 inch bands will fit a 6.9 inch tank as long as the bolt is long enough. But I'm hesitant to buy their bands because I heard that the Sherwood manifolds require a special type of band with the old spacing. Charlie, could you clarify any of this or validate it? TD

I like the. Enter post down, so that the double hose regulator is lower on my back.

TD, make yerself some cardboard strips and make a dummy of the bands: make a small block of wood that fit's into the gap/space. If you carefully tape the cardboard down, you can get it snug: perhaps blue painters tape? When everything is to yer spekz, cut yer banz JB

That is a nice setup, it looks like it was made for 72s.
So I did some measuring and the Center to Center measurement for the valve was somewhere between 8.15-8.4 inches. That's just a rough estimate because my tape measure was really having some trouble (maybe I didn't have my glasses either).
The bands from DGX should fit, a tightly torqued screw should solve the spacing issue. Any backplate will work.
