Picatoste, Unfortunately, I haven't spearfished in decades, but I do have a couple of photos to share with you about spearfishing in Oregon: I climbed up this island to get a photo of our paddle boards when we were spearfishing off Port Orford, Oregon in the early 1960s. Here is a photo from that time of the fish I shot. Here is a description of diving in Oregon in the September 1965 issue of the Oregon Council of Diving Clubs: I used a U.S. Divers Company Champion Arbarlete speargun, with two rubbers and a weighted head. I have long since lost track of it though. Here is a photo of me with this speargun in Hood Canal, Washington state, USA in about 1963. Note the spearhead with a weighted head. I shot a cabazon right between the eyes, a huge fish that I really wanted to nail with the spear. I was only about a meter away (3 feet), and thought I had it dead. But, the spear bounced off its skull, and the fish swam away. John

I have just visited your website, and find it intriguing. Here is a translation into English of your website, The detailed photos you have of Nemrod spearguns are fascinating. Also, you have some vintage spearfishing catalog photos too: I would encourage people to follow the above link to this page, and enjoy the photos he has placed there. John

I just found my dive log entry for this spearfishing trip: I climbed up this island to get a photo of our paddle boards when we were spearfishing off Port Orford, Oregon in the early 1960s. Here is a photo from that time of the fish I shot. This trip was to Whalehead Cove, in Southern Oregon on October 9, 1970. Visibility was about 15 feet, and I got down to 40 feet on my freediving dives. John
