Hi family!
I have a simple, and yet pretty annoying problem with one of my Spirotechnique regulators. I decided to clean some of the inner parts of the body and, while I was removing the retainer ring with my clirclip pliers both 'eyes' or small holes on each end of the ring broke. Now the ring is sitting happily and I have no leverage to pull it out. Any ideas??

Sharky, is this for the sintered filter? If that is the case, you can use a small slot tip screwdriver to force one side up... Another thing you can try is use a small needle nose pliers, again, forcing one side up: once you get one up, just walk it out. I was going top be a real smart @$$ and start explaining how to repair the circlip JB

Thanks!!! I Yes. This retainer ring holds and keep the filter in place. I'll try what you just said. I'm afraid I might break the filter from pushing hard with the screwdriver tho. If I need a filter replacement I'm not sure if these are universal or specific for double hose (Spiros). The one that it has seem slightly larger than the ones on single hose regs... but I can't really tell...

Take the yoke off!!!!!!!! Also, put something on the lip of he valve body so that you don't distort/dent/mar anything. Those filters are pretty soft, so they will bend before they break. Try pushing down on the filter to get the liferupper tool under it...

I'd use two very small watchmaker's flathead screwdriver. These are the ones where you put your thumb on the screwdriver, first finger on the other side of the screwdriver in the indent, and your other fingers on the opposite side of the shaft for twisting it with the top in the middle of the hand. Use one to hold the circling from turning in. The groove, and the other to pry the other side out of the groove and up , then simply move around until the entire circling is out. It shouldn't be hard to take out.
Now, replace it with a new circlip that actually works.

I had this problem on a Snark III. Just the eyes broke off. This would just not be bent enough to lever out. I ended up having to pry the filter out (ruining it) and to cut through the clip with a dremel, which did damage the nozzle a little. But, it doesn't keep a new clip from holding the filter in or ruin the functionality of the nozzle. It's just not kew. It's better than nothing.....
I ended up finding a new nozzle at "the source of all wonderful things" to replace the damaged one. Still have the "modded" one, though, set up and ready to go!
