I noticed that several divers live or dove in Origon or up north. What is the water tempiture in the rivers and ocean their? The farthest north I ever dove was montery, Ca. and the coldest water tempiture I encountered was 48 degree. The reason I am interested is the danger of diving in water tempitures in the mid 40 and below. Thanks for input. Gair

Even up near Charlie it only dips into the high-40's: www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Cape-Mendocino/seatempToday's Cape Mendocino sea temperature is 52 °F.
Statistics for 26 May (1981–2005) – mean: 54 °F, range: 50 °F to 59 °F
Cape Mendocino sea water temperatures peak in the range 12 to 17°C (54 to 63°F) on around the 25th of August and are at their minimum on about the 11th of February, in the range 10 to 13°C (50 to 55°F). The warmest sea water temperatures at Cape Mendocino in late August are ideally suited to a 4/3mm wetsuit + 3mm boots, although a 5/3mm wetsuit may be preferable for longer sessions and cold windy days. At its minimum in the second week of February, low sea water temperatures at Cape Mendocino are suited to a 5/4mm or 5/3mm good quality wetsuit with neoprene gloves and 3mm boots. You will need a hood if it's windy or the air is cold.
