Mark, very fun--thanks for sharing! Dacor made some really killer stuff back then, easily as good as what USD was producing. When you get some spare change hit Phil up for one of his Olympic-400/800 series regs: that twin exhaust makes exhalation very natural JB

I want a set of Turbo Fins now (NOT Turbo-II Fins). I see them all over Ebay, so guessing they are east to find? I was so stoked to "get into" Sportsways last year and it has not happened yet. I could see getting a Dacor Olympic series in the near future? I like the way the Dart looks...but have not heard good things about them? Anyway...thanks for the positive input. Mark

...I like the way the Dart looks...but have not heard good things about them? Anyway...thanks for the positive input. Mark Yes, the Dart series is like having a three legged racing horse: easily the worst regulator I've ever tried which is a shame because they look totally boss The diaphragm is too stiff, but the levers are a horrible joke: if you're a super old-school diver who thinks it's OK to have to work to inhale, then this one's for you. Oh, did I mention they squeal like a stuck-pig when you breathe from them: it makes the reserve on the Scubair-300 sound downright pleasant: it's one of those ear splitting rings that makes everyone know you're within 75-feet of them... I'm really starting to like these Turbo-II Fins for some reason?! Think they will be on my feet at the end of this week when I take to the water again. Mark

When it comes to Dacor, I'm more of a Corda person: But that's just because I prefer full-foot fins. Congratulations, Mark, on owning a single manufacturer's full set of basic gear! In the Dacor catalogues, the Turbo II fins are described as "Quadri-Vent" because of the blades. I remember commenting on the mask in another thread. As for the snorkel, here's the 1970 Dacor snorkel page: Unusually, Dacor had two flexible-hose snorkel models with different mouthpieces. I can't really see the mouthpiece properly on your picture to tell which model it is, but it looks like the "RST", which came with a conventional lug-type mouthpiece. Am I viewing your picture correctly and the barrel broadens significantly at the point where the flex-hose is attached? DRW

My snorkel does not look to be of those types in the photo. Guessing it could be later than 1970? Mark

A local dive shop has a pair of Dacor Corda fins and I'd snag them in a heartbeat, but they are way too big for me. Mark

Mark, This Dacor snorkel is a great one, and I have two of them, one in black neoprene and one in silicone. The mouthpiece works well, and it stays out of the way when not in use. John's Mask, Snorkel & Helmet Collection by John Ratliff, on Flickr You can see the silicone version of your snorkel on the right side of some of my collection. One of my favorite Dacor masks is the three-window one on the lower left (second from the left, first row). The mode "D" snorkel that DRW shows above is not a good design, as the mouthpiece is a heavy current bends around the diver's jaw, and cuts off the air. John

The two in the lower left, Dacor too, is easily the best snorkel I've ever used: until John gave me a second one, I gave it to my wife, so I had to settle for something else...

The mask with the SeawiscopeEY on it, with the pink outer frame, is also a Dacor low volume mask (2nd from the left, middle row). I picked it up in the 1990s in Medford, Oregon. The mask is made of black silicone, and one of my best low-volume masks. It did not sell becaue of the pink outer frame.

Ah - that explains everything. Here's the page: It's Dacor's NST (Straight tube) Turboflex snorkel with a new type of flexible hose - smooth on the inside, corrugated on the outside. DRW

Here's the one I gave to my wife, but not Dacor, it's a "Deep See" from Honolulu Hawaii: The nice thing about them is you can reorient the tube, as I have done, so that when you're looking forward the tube is more or less straight up which is great for snorkeling safely! JB
