Hello Found this ScubaPro R-109 2nd stage at a local shop for $5. I have something to rebuild this Winter. The exhaust and purge cover rubber are crispy!, but they are being reproduced. I think another local shop has a handful of ScubaPro Mk.V 1st stages, so I might have a second Mk.V/R-109, or I might just stash this one away for a rainy day? Anyway, just wanted to show. Please share pics of your rebuild. I have a couple of 109's on my "to do" list. I'd love to see pics of how its done. My next project is an Mk7/R108, my first single hose overhaul.

Bryan at VDH did some "how to" videos for several Scubapro regulators including this one. He also made service kits including reproductions of the new Duro Poppet for the 109 second stage. Once you replace the second stage poppet to the Duro Poppet design you will be able to use standard disc seats (no need for special seats anymore). To access the videos just go to the store where the parts are sold. The links to the "how to' videos are right there under the parts. vintagedoublehose.com/store/#!/Scubapro-kits-Click-Here/c/3500128/offset=0&sort=normal

Can't go wrong with a 109, worth $5 any day regardless of condition.
I have a couple reproduction exhaust covers that take a fair bit of sweet talk to install, my wife seems concerned for my health (both mental and physical) during the process. Originals vary quite a bit but tend to be breezy to put on in comparison.

Originals vary quite a bit but tend to be breezy to put on in comparison. Gotta soak the exhaust T's in very hot water for about 20 minutes first. Saves mental and physical pain and suffering on installation.

For sure, a hot soak is part of the installation process when needed. On the reproduction T's I have (purchased perhaps 10 years ago), the plastic in the area that mounts on the regulator exhaust is very stiff and does not gain much flex even after a hot soak. Finding cheap parts only 108s/109s with usable T's is another solution.

Morris75,
Welcome here. I hope to see years of input from you too.
I have a couple of Scubapro 109s that also need a rebuild, so I'll be watching what is written here closely.

Don't hold your breath on seeing a rebuild on this one anytime soon. This one might be on the back burner for a while? Not sure when I'll get around to it? I had to get a repro exhaust for my last R-109 salvage project, it fit on just fine with little drama. Mark

Good to know that you had success with a reproduction exhaust cover. Don't recall where I purchased, but it was not from VDH.
