I hope anyone with information about these regs will step up. Mark (SL), your friend Sam knows a lot about this stuff, right? Sam knows a bunch of stuff. If there is a specific question I'm happy to ask him. General questions tend to get a history of the world type of response. Today is Sam's 89th birthday, so Happy B-day to my old dive buddy!

I wouldn't mind a history lesson on the DivAir! But, I suppose I don't have a specific question. It would be about minutiae no one really cares about, anyway.

Now that I think about it, Sam sent me some early articles on the DivAir a while back. Let me look and see what I have and I will post what I find.

Wow. The full face mask used in the movie Jay posted is listed here. In the picture illustrating a diver wearing the full face mask and the tank shows the regulator placed between the shoulder blades as recommended. And the full face mask was only +$10! I wish we knew what year this was. The regulator is NOT an A series, but could be the aluminum or plastic model.
I was particularly struck by the assurance that no surplus military equipment was used to make their gear! That must have really meant something in those days. Also, their tank was rated 2150 psi, not 2250? And shipped filled!
Thanks for posting this Mark!

Mark, yes, thanks for sharing that with us Perhaps DRW can shed some light on the suit. I'm pretty sure the mask is a Cressi Medusa... PY, have you been keeping your eyes out for one? Sure would be fun to use JB

3 different model of regulators are being offered in this catalog. The cover with 6 ridges is an early model, which were A and B series regs featuring bronze castings. The 3 ridged cover was introduced on the aluminum C model, and continued through until end of production.
I'd forgotten how much information the CG-45 site has on the DivAir. I was just looking at it, and he has a ton of DivAir catalogs and photos.
He mentions something in passing concerning the regulator body replacement service offered, saying that the Model C regulator bodies were often replaced with plastic due to problems with corrosion. No mention of replacements for A and B models. I had always understood that the upgrade was offered for all metal models.
When confused or looking for guidance, one should always turn to the "bible". I did so, and found the passage where Roberts confirms that the aluminum bodied regs "...[could] be converted to the fiberglass late model at a nominal cost."
