I was really looking forward to diving Monterey again. I am highly risk-adverse regarding Covid so not sure how an in-person gathering would work. I don't see any problem wearing masks and social distancing in the Park. For me it's more the exposure in the travel up there - although I am self-contained in my van. I say we play it by ear still.
On the virtual front, it might be fun to set up a Zoom meeting where we could all see each other, drink libations and tell lies....

We only lie when our lips are moving. The present participle of lie is not lieing. The I becomes a Y: lying. Here is how you tell laying and lying apart: “If you tell an untruth it is a lie, not a lay; and if you are in the process of telling an untruth you are lying and not laying.”

Time to weigh in on this year's event. In Monterey County, gatherings of non-family member groups is discouraged. Restaurant occupancy is severely restricted. I feel that we should cancel the 2020 gathering and hope for an effective vaccine. In fact, I would like to cancel 2020 completely.

If I get the chance to drive through Monterey this Fall I'll do a shout-out and see if anyone is available for a dive to Metridium Fields at San Carlos Beach. M

I too unfortunately agree with CJ and Mark. Being a person of age risk it seems sensible to cancel this years event. But being an optimist, I still plan on going to Monterey this fall & winter to make some solo dives at San Carlos Beach or dive on the "Beach Hopper II". I will give a holler when I go to see if anyone wants to join me. In the mean time, everyone stay healthy.

I haven't been down since February. My wife is still working at Humboldt State Univ. Their policy would require me to quarantine for 14 days after traveling. Although I've had some working dives to keep my gear wet, I miss spending time in clear water with nothing to worry about but f stops.
I'm hoping to host a reunion of divers who went through the scuba program at Ravenswood High School in Summer 2021. That seemed like a safe bet earlier this year.
Good (and Safe) Dives, Charlie
