Here's how it looked when I got it: The paint is all wrong, and makes it look way too modern! I'm bringing it back to how it should have looked with a zigzag on the side like this one shows: offerup.com/item/detail/532371259JB

Well, not at all scuba related... but I finally put a Springer on my bike, made the factory seat into a solo seat, replaced the factory gauges with tiny ones on the bars, and put my suicide clutch back on. And some other minor miscellany. A tad less safe, but way more fun!

James, I just upgraded my bicycle too. Last winter I replaced the entire drive train, new chain, new chain rings, new cassett, and now, new pedals. My old pedals, which are oven 20 years old, started having a problem. The left one started grinding. My son said I could rebuild it, with new ball bearings. Then I went to my local bicycle shop (Universal cycles) and found that new pedals were only $42 for a set, so I picked them up. I may rebuild the old pedals this winter. 'Britain's loneliest sheep' Fiona is settling into new home after cliff rescueThe ewe had been stranded for more than two years at the foot of cliffs close to Scotland's Cromarty Firth before being winched to safety by a group of farmers on Saturday. She has since been sheared and is eating and drinking well. Before:After:DRW

What a story! She's a lucky sheep. What did she eat?
Is her wool worth more than another ewe's? Can I get a sweater?

What a story! She's a lucky sheep. What did she eat? Is her wool worth more than another ewe's? Can I get a sweater? Full story and more pictures at 'Britain's loneliest sheep' Fiona is settling into new home after cliff rescue. I think some Welsh sheep spend time on the beach, eating sea grass amd seaweed, giving a salty flavour to the meat. In Fiona's case, there is always plenty of vegetation around to feed on and sheep aren't fussy animals. Her heavy fleece would have been sheared off to improve her mobility. The price of wool is not what it was, due to the ubiquity of synthetic materials in clothing nowadays. Yorkshire was an important centre of the wool trade centuries ago. My old university in that English county had a department of "wool science" in the late 1960s when I was studying there. I wonder too what will be done with Fiona's wool, no mention in the article, but one option might be to auction it off and give the proceeds to a good cause. Britain's high streets used to have many knitting shops, but most of them have since closed. DRW

I guess I should have written "jumper"!
My wife and I went to the Aran Islands a couple of years ago. We rode a tandem bike around Inis Mor. Aran Island wool and knit goods are a big deal there.

Or "pullover" Woollen clothing is indeed a very important cottage industry in both Ireland and Scotland. I used to wear Harris Tweed sports jackets when I taught my secondary school classes. DRW

It was a long hot dry summer in Texas, and a good place to dive was hard to find! What makes me happy today is that we are finally getting rain.

Bill, that image reminds me of a place on the Central Coast of California called, "Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes"; you can read about them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guadalupe-Nipomo_DunesThey're BIG, people have gotten lost and completely disoriented in them, yet, you can still hear the ocean, because some of them are deep, and you can't find the horizon--YIKES! "In 1923, the epic movie The Ten Commandments directed by Cecil B. DeMille, was filmed on the Dunes. At the end of production, the massive sets reproducing ancient Egypt were dismantled and buried on the site to prevent reuse." JB
