Phil B, yeah I've found it can get pretty frustrating sometimes But as Bugs Bunny once said, "Remember Doc, keep smilin'!" I've found that projects like these have the most satisfying pay-off, if it doesn't kill you first... JB

Phil B.,
I'm now curious as to what your ultimate objective is with these tanks. Are you simply trying to get them in the water, or are you trying to rebuild the entire USD ABS as it originally was built? These are two different goals.

Isn’t there a couple of members who haven’t been heard from lately who are into these things? Don, maybe?

Phil B., I'm now curious as to what your ultimate objective is with these tanks. Are you simply trying to get them in the water, or are you trying to rebuild the entire USD ABS as it originally was built? These are two different goals. John John,
I believe I sent you a photo of me diving those ABS triples in Wallowa Lake last year....when I purchased them they had/have a single webbing that weaves around all three tanks, through 2 thin pieces of Delrin spacers between the bottles and then threads into a stab jacket BCD...so yes, I can dive them with that setup but feel that support is lacking and the double webbing banding of the original ABS bands/blocks is a superior method of stabilizing and supporting the bottles..I am not wishing to use the shell/fairing and plastic insert in the USD Cousteau stab jacket. No "recreation" intent, just want to improve what I have.
Plus...I recently went to the dark side and bought two XDeep NX wings [single and double] with the NX SS plate...I want to revert back to 'harness only' in front on all my bottles and not use the stab jackets or horse collars for that matter but the wings...but with no intent of setting up a "Tech" rig; I want the old feel of less is better.. secondarily I am back using my double hose regs....obviously, for me anyway, the ABS bottles with valve on right side bottle will not work for a double hose reg; at least without looking to me goofy and functionally marginal off to the side that much...so with the ABS triples, for me again, I will use only a single hose reg....
I have all but given up seeing the original webbing/blocks off of the triples and laid out in a manner that shows how they are assembled....let alone find this webbing/block setup for sale..
Hope this explains the "why" of my quest....
Phil
Ps...Sorry for format issues, I try to edit this but parts of the message gets dropped and italics come on...Grrrrr. Pps..."I have over 100 dives on this setup" was deleted.....

Perhaps, but I have sent out dozens of emails and posts trying find someone willing to post photos or PM me. Hey Phil, it occurred to me to see if the Vintage Double Hose site had a repair manual for the ABS and a parts drawing. But alas it does not. However, I DID find a PDF under the US Divers Manuals on how to make tanks bands for triples. The method would have to be modified for the angled tank arrange, ment of the ABD manifold. BUT... It might be of some help to you. There are photos! These files are posted courtesy of the Late Bryan Pennington and family... personal.filesanywhere.com/guest/fs?v=8d6d638a5f6075b5a46a"Bands for Triple 5 Inch Diameter Tanks"

Do appreciate you digging this out for me! Phil B.

Do appreciate you digging this out for me! Phil B. Just caught another problem "converting' the Luxfer 30cf bottles [5.25"] into what 'looks' like the original USD Navy triple 40s...this Pdf conversion guide uses a straight, center valve old style manifold....looks great and it could be used with a two hose reg...the problem is the spacing of the bottles...with 'straight' metal bands on this wider spacing there is room for the bands between the bottles, but with the original ABS contoured manifold the bottles are too close to fit these bands between them.. I have an unmolested '57 set of the USD Navy triple 40s....with the original harness...hydro'e 8-23 and currently with 2,300psi...so I am back to figuring out a webbing/block set up for my ABS triples.... Hey, below zero here so I may just have too much time on my hands! Phil B.
