Ah, so! I see. Actually, Linda, I've been meaning to thank you for starting this thread. It has been fun, informative, and lively ;D Most of the recent activity has been on this thread. Now, to help keep things on track: I will give 2 hints; 1. To my knowledge the name only showed up in Jan. of 1976; 2. named after a type of invertebrate John

To borrow on Duckbill's idea but also give everyone the complete question (and partial answer) chain, here is johna's question again. Good Luck! Scuba Pro produced a hard shell back BC to compete with Watergill's at-pac. What was it's original name and the second (and last) name of the unit? Bonus round, why did they change the name? John SCUBAPRO, SCUBASYSTEM CAT. NO.580......MY FAVORITE! I HAVE TWO JUST IN CASE ONE GOES SOUTH ON ME. I BOUGHT MY FIRST ONE IN MARCH OF 1978 AS A CLOSE OUT. PAID $150.00 FOR IT. THE INSTRUCTION BOOK HAS A SCUBAPRO PRINTING DATE OF 1976 SO I ASSUME THIS WAS THE SECOND GENERATION? WHAT WAS THE FIRST NAME? diverdown1955 jerry You got 1/2 the question right..... John I will give 2 hints; 1. To my knowledge the name only showed up in Jan. of 1976; 2. named after a type of invertebrate John

I m going to guess the armadillo, but I bet that is not an invertebrate. I don't think I did well in biology. Actually, I don't remember I ever having biology.
I am thinking some kind of hard shell creature.

Well, if I were to say "Nautilus" and am correct, I'd also have to guess the second part of the answer would be that they had to change the name because of some trademark or copyright infringement issue. Both answers are SWAGs.

johna, With diverdown1955 answering 1/2 of your question and duckbill answering the remaining 1/2, who are you turning the trivia question over to next?

johna, With diverdown1955 answering 1/2 of your question and duckbill answering the remaining 1/2, who are you turning the trivia question over to next? Ooooooh! Ooooooh! I can answer that! Considering if I was correct that I intended to put the next slot up for first-come-first-served grabs, I'll let it go to diverdown1955 Thanks for that one, John. It kept us going for a while, and I really was just guessing based on your clues.

I would have to go with Duckbill, the 1st part of the question was a no-brainer, used just to point out that there were two names. But I really dont care!

Thanks John. I'll say, 'go ahead, diverdown1955 if you'd like. If you don't have a trivia question for us, let me know so I can come up with something or pass it on.'

Since nobody has bothered to enter another question heres one...... Earlier we talked about the aquamatic regulator single hose reg. It exhaled out the side. ONE side! What other reg of the same era offered the same feature?

Or, Rose Aviation, Inc's Rose Pro and Pro Super or Nemrod Snark II. You might even consider Demone Mark 1, sort of. Allan

Or, the Poseidon Cyklon, but I think the Poseidon may predate the Aquamatic. The Cyklon dates back to 1957.

The answer I was looking for was the "ROSE" and simonbeanso nailed it! The Rose unit had the tank upside down on the divers back like the Scott scuba. Its your deal simonbeans.....
