OK, another hint:
US Divers is the company that imported the watch from the late 60's to early 90's.

I win the "close enough" award, so here is my question. Who manufactured and what was the product name of the first production dive watch with a helium expansion valve? John How about Dirk Pitt's favorite watch, the orange faced Doxa Sub300t Conquistador, distributed by US Divers? (looking it up, it seems they share the patent with Rolex, who started using it on their Sea-Dweller watch in 1971 and later Omega put one on their Seamaster watches) Edit: Here is a link I just found about it for all you Horology geeks (aka watch geeks) www.doxa300t.com/conquistador/conquistador.htm

YOU GOT IT!!!!! ;D I remembered the Aquamatic deluxe because they had it on a big cardboard cut out display at the dive shop in cleveland, Ohio in august of 1959. It was in the window of the dive shop, and I went in and salivated over all the goodies. They had ALL their regs on display on the pegboard. This was a big free standing display. They also had a jerfoam wetsuit on display then, that had a fleece lining I remember. Never saw one since. The next question is yours!!!!!!

Okay, here's the question, and it again has to do with watches. Who had a solid gold Rolix dive watch custom made for him by Rolex? And if you can find this out, I'd like to know what ever became of that watch (which I think is a one-off and probably worth a nugget or two)? Hint: This person also wrote an article on diving for California gold in a Jacques Cousteau book, copyright 1959. Triple score if you can name the title of this book.

John Was it James Dugan and the article was "Laurentic Gold' in the book "Captain Cousteau's Underwater Treasury"? I don't have a clue about the Gold Rolex.

Yes, Luis, it was Dick Anderson with the solid gold Rolex. I don't have the copy, but it was written up in Skin Diver Magazine in the late 1960s, I believe. Dick Anderson, from what I remember of that article, actually sent Rolex the nuggets of gold that he had recovered from his California gold mining in the American River, and several other rivers in Northern California. Rolex actually used that gold to make the case for his solid gold Rolex dive watch. The book was Captian Cousteau's Underwater Treasure, but it wasn't the Laurentic Gold article that I was thinking about. It was Dick Anderson's article, on page 106 titled "California Gold Divers[/I] that described the gold that he had recovered from the rivers. I don't know what happened to the solid gold dive watch, but I assume it's pretty valuable, and stored away somewhere. I just googled "Dick Anderson and diving" and came up with this reference: www.amazon.com/gp/product/0941332314/002-0184874-7132831?v=glance&n=283155I think Dick's still out there kicking, and writing about his exploits. The review was interesting in and of itself, as apparently Dick Anderson had something to do with the Healthways Scuba regulator too. Anyway, I think the next question is Luis'. But I still would like to know what ever happened to that solid gold watch? John

1) What comes attached to the bottom ring of a Fenzy? 2) What is Fenzy’s motto?
