Vintage divers on this trip: Just a small clarification on the schedule. The Saturday date should be April 2 and the Sunday date is April 3. The gentleman at the Manatee Springs hotel is difficult to understand, but seems very pleasant. Wow, I am excited. 1st to meet you of like kin, and to do some clear water diving.

Yes, I am kind of excited too. Not normally a freshwater diver and it has been awhile since I had any interest in the springs but this whole thing sounds great. I get to see the double hose pros in action, get my gear all cleaned up in nice clean freshwater. Also, I get to use the double hosers I have liberated from ebay and rebuilt on my own in a controlled environemnt. I am sure my old Mistral will do fine, the others, not so sure about. Kinda worried about these vicious sand dogs. Is that some kind of biteing critter? Well, sand dogs aside, it should be a great trip.
How many regulators and how much equipment is typically brought down. I was thinking to dive several sets. I have six double hosers and I think they all work now, five of them do anyways. I was thinking to just bring them all. Two or three of them I plan to sell again via ebay or whatever but I want to use them on at least one dive first after the effort put into them. I think the freshwater exercizing will be good for them.
How many tanks do we need each? etc. Is air availabe reasonably close to these locations? Nemrod

Danny D, In response to your question about flying with doubles, the following information was copied from the TSA website; Some scuba gear can be transported on-board the aircraft. Please refer to the guidelines below:
Regulators, Buoyancy Compensators and mask, snorkel and fins are all acceptable as checked or carry-on baggage.
A compressed gas cylinder is allowed in carry-on or checked baggage ONLY if the regulator valve is completely disconnected from the cylinder and the cylinder is no longer sealed (i.e. the cylinder has an open end). The cylinder must have an opening to allow for a visual inspection inside. TSA Security Screeners will NOT remove the seal/regulator valve from the cylinder at the checkpoint. If the cylinder is sealed (i.e. the regulator valve is still attached), the cylinder is prohibited and not permitted through the security checkpoint, regardless of the reading on the pressure gauge indicator. TSA Security Screeners must visibly ensure that the cylinder is completely empty and that there are no prohibited items inside.
Knives and tools are prohibited from carry-on luggage. These items should be packed in checked luggage. Any sharp objects packed in checked luggage should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and security screeners.
Spear guns are prohibited from carry-on luggage. These items should be packed in checked luggage. To make a long story short, it is probably more trouble then it is worth.

Danny D,
You could always ship your doubles.
Bryan will be shipping his heavy gear and if you touch base with him I am sure he can let you know who he is shipping his gear with and where to ship yours to.
Good luck.

Well the only thing that I would be shipping is a set of double 72's. However I have experience with shipping these before when i bought them and it cost me $75 so Im looking at $150 off the bat for that. I'll think about it and maybe like you suggested ask Bryan what his plans are. Thanks Jes

Broxton who? Yah sure, she'll tell you the guy is a scuba freak with nitrogen scars across the front of the brain................ But he does have good banjos! I drive through Branford all the time, with all the mosquitos the size of birds, and the giant leeches......................... you get tired of that quick!

OKAY GANG I just got off the phone with Broxton Chuck, he is in Fla. right now and the Troy SPG is closed again.....He also reports that MANATEE is also flodded out? BC is going to check on several other Spgs but it looks like we are still going to meet at Blue on Friday, but we may have to do Hosptal Hole and Alexander as out 2nd and third location if we want some good clear water........... They are both reasonably close to Blue and good choices given the time constraints. BC will report back to me as any good PATHFINDER would. I will pass on the info as soon as I get it. ROB also I have my second run of voit tees so I should have plenty for everyone....
