I have some brass screw inserts made for wood with a very slow pitch. Sort of self tapping. I was thinking of making a jig of sorts to hold a screw in the insert and then placing it below the level of the lead. The jig would hold the insert in place, otherwise it would float out when the lead is poured. Or I could just put the weight in the lathe after cast, drill and tap it for a Helicoil, and be done with it. The things we do for "vintage". Thanks for all the suggestions for the Plasti Coat. Should anyone else need weights this size(3 1/4"x1") I will have a nice aluminum mould machined from a solid 7" section of round bar with a 2degree taper that should make nice weights.
