Hi Jean-Michel from France and Welcome to the VSS Forum. We hope you will like it here very much and have lots of Fun too. I myself have a nice Spirotechnique Regulator and excellent and actual European Spirotechnique Scuba Tank myself too. So it is Extra fun Welcomeing you. My last name is Pique' and from a child, I was told that we were of French descent and that made the Geography books very interesting in school. I just wish I had taken the French Language Classes too, ha, ha. Really! Well we certainly hope you will like the Forum very much and like the Group of great guys here too. I am sure we already like you.

Hi Jean-Michel; I too started diving with a Spirotechnique Mistral back in 1958. I was a member of a French diving club, Club Des Chasseure Et Explorateurs Sous-Marins De France from 1958-1961. I was stationed with the US Air Force at Evreux, France. I still have great fond memorys of my time in France, and I still dive with a Mistral regulator, best regulator ever made. Frans Carlson

No, I didn't know it was still around. Iwas member#4.938. Is it still located in Paris? I took my SCUBA training through this Club, in a pool in Paris and then down in the Mediterranean off Le Lavandou. I was also a member of the Federation Francaise D'Etudes Et De Sports Marins. My two diplomas are; Brevet Elementaire De Plongee Sous-Marine April 1959, and Brevet De Plongeur Autonome ( 1st Echelon) June 1959. My instructor was Jean Guionie, vice president of La Spirotechnique. Frans

Frans Wow nice to see someone with a "french school diving history" here yes the club is still located in Paris you probably trained at the Charenton diving pool ... this training pool is still active and I ofteny dive there (it is a training pool with a max depth of 15 meters, one of the first to be opened in Europe) here is a picture of myself trying the new Mistral reg in this pool : The FFESSM still exist nowdays I am also certified by them , names of de diploma have changed but they have equivalences to CMAS if you have kept your French diploma you can convert them into CMAS equivalent : if you are interested PM me and I'll give you the instructions to get your diploma Funilly my father also have a very old FFESSM diploma he is Brevet de plongeur autonome avancée (2eme Echelon) : and his number is N°00000000005 !!! and his diploma is signed by Dumas himself cheers Jean-Michel
