It is a great film, but almost impossible to find in French and even harder to find in English. I have been looking for a copy in English for a long time. I have a contact who has said that he will make a copy for me but his schedule is very busy. When I get a copy I will let you know. Good luck with the search in the meantime. -Ryan

Thanks Ryan, I'd really appreciate it. I'll keep you posted if I have any luck. It seems crazy that an oscar winning documentary would be so hard to track down Nick

Ron Ryan, Sounds like you and Ron need to work out a way to get his 16mm film transferred to DVD. Once you guys succeed let us know when we can buy a copy from you. ;D Good luck, JES

Where is the link to World Without Sun on DVD? Is there a version in English. I know that The Silent World is Available on DVD in a European Format, but not WWS. Any info would be helpful. It is cheaper to transfer formats than 16mm to DVD. -Ryan

Hi
I don't know about any french link, but my info came from a friend of mine who purchased a recently released copy over on the isle of man. I will ask him exactly were it came from next time I get him on Messanger.

Thanks Ron. I would love to borrow the 16mm film for the Wazee get together in Aug. It would be fun for the 16mm Movie night. Let me know if we can work something out. -Ryan

The French DVD is available from amazon.fr as part of a 3 disk edition. Search on their site for le monde sans soleil and you should find it. It will be in european format but most PC's can read both. I'm not sure if it has an english subtitle option. I hadn't seen the UK release on PAL, but if that's the case it only costs a few dollars to convert it to NTSC.

I just found a copy of "The World of Jacques Cousteau" 1966 It is the story of Conshelf III. It is on 16mm. This national Geographic Film is the follow up to World Without Sun (Conshelf II) and was the first Cousteau Special aired on US TV. It started it all in terms of Cousteau's TV run. It is quite rare. It does seem that we need to get both films in English on DVD. -Ryan

Hi Ryan, How long is that world wirhout sun film? I could have it transferred to dvd, price depends on the running time. Jerry 763-786-8018 The Kemp's Cow might like watching it with Bryan Pennington.
