It's been well over a year since season one of Flipper was released. Has there ever been a show that they released a season or two, then stopped and never released the rest? I hope that won't be the case for Flipper.
Yeah, they only released the first season of SWAT, which means the two part The Deadly Tide episode (which was part of the second season) is still available. It WAS released on VHS at some point, as I have that, but not yet on DVD. I think there have been other shows they did that with.
Given the fact they only ever released about two dozen episodes of Flipper (out of something like 70) on VHS (12 tapes, two episodes per tape, except for the Flipper's Odyssey release, which featured a three part story arc in it's entirety), I'm kind of not surprised that MGM is dragging it's feet about releasing more Flipper on DVD.
There is a DVD release of Flipper, in Germany! I've never seen them, but they picture quality isn't very good, and presumably, everything is dubbed over in German.
Another one that I'm bummed that I haven't seen on DVD yet is The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman. I heard there was some big lawsuit involving the guy who wrote the Cyborg novels that the TV shows were actually based on, but I don't know if that was ever resolved or if that has anything to do with the shows not being issued on DVD Stateside (again, there's been a region 2 release of, I believe, the first season of each show, but...).
Anyhow, I remember Magnum P.I. had an episode entitled "Rapture", or "Rapture of the Deep".
I believe there were three different Magnum PI episodes that had scuba scenes. I think the one you're talking about is the one where Magnum sees the boy swimming underwater during a dive. Turns out the boy died when his grandfather's fishing boat blew up.
There was also one where TC's helicopter crashes in the ocean, with a container full of, I think, some kind nuclear reactor material (I think they call it "heavy water"). Anyway, Thomas and TC's "brother" (who turns out to not really be his brother) have to dive for it.
And there was also a third one, I never saw the full episode, so I don't know the full plot, but Thomas and a woman go diving, and they find another woman planting a bomb on something in the water. This was at the end of the episode, hence my vagueness on the plot. If you remember the opening credits in some of the later seasons of Magnum, there's very quick shot of him fighting another diver, u/w, well, it's from this episode.
