2010 Vintage Dive July30th to 1 Aug Message List

A Vintage Dive Proposal
Last year at the Lake Wazee Vintage Dive I made reference to the fact
that I have a place on Lake Superior about 5 miles North of Two Harbors.
I would like to propose that we hold this years Vintage Dive gathering
on Lake Superior based out of our cabin. This 4 Bedroom, 3 Bath house on
the lake can sleep up to 18 persons as well as have room for tents and
RVs (we have 9 acres). The lake out front is about a 50 ft walk and
there are 4 wreck sites within 2 – 15 miles. No matter what the wind or
weather is doing there are places to dive. Now the lake is generally
colder then Wazee, about the same as the 1st cold thermocline in Wazee,
but the visibility is significantly better and the dive sites have much
more variety. The wreck site of the Lafayette is on the property about 2
miles north of us and still has lots of artifacts on the bottom in 20-30
ft depths. We can also cook meals and spend the evenings together as a
group. There is a fill station in Silver Bay just 15 miles north and
right near the wreck of the Hesper, another 40 ft wreck dive.
The proposed weekend would be the 30th of July 2010 to the 1st of August
2010. I would actually be going up on Wed the 28th and staying through
Tuesday the 3rd, so if you want you can have a little extra time up
there before or after the actual event itself.
There will be no cost for the use of the cabin, all we need to do is
bring a sleeping bag and pillow. If you want to eat at the cabin you can
pitch in for food and drinks.
I have reserved the space for that week and would like to know how many
would be willing to commit to coming up for the weekend. If there are
enough we can make meal plans and dive plans in advance. Please email me
at dkrafft@... and I will add you to the list. Bedrooms, 3 of
them will be available to be reserved on a 1st request first reserved
basis and once those are taken we will start giving out mattresses and
floor space.
Hope to see you there.
