Hi, I am very interested in 1950s and 60s scooters like the Healthways Seahorse. I have found lots of loose ends and conflicting info from the net. I'd really appreciate any info, photos, descriptions, schematics, specifications etc anyone has. Healthways Seahorse I: www.life.com/image/50388425In particular is Healthways Seahorse related to Italian Cos.Mo.S series like CE2F? If anyone else is interested in this topic I'd gladly share what little I know.

Hi All, Just came across this older thread. I have a Sea horse II that I've been trying to get information on to enable me to restore it. Unfortunately it's been gutted, so any information about the internal layout would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks nikeajax for posting the above images, the top image is of course the one off sub from the "Thunderball" film. The B/W pix is the wet sub built by "Submarine Products Ltd "UK circa 1970's however it failed to make production due to finance.

Here is the article I found in Popular Science Magazine, July 1991. Here's some drawings from this article: Britton, Peter, "Technology Race Beneath the Waves," Popular Science, Vol. 239, No. 1, July 1991, pages 48-53. John

HA! I still have that magazine, John. Was very much into experimenting with human powered submersibles back in the day. I built a manpowered swimming machine which failed miserably and went on to pressure hulls. When this mag came out I already had six or seven launches on the Nautilus Minisub. But it is an iteresting area of research. Getting back to the topic, one of the earliest wetsubs I can think of at the moment was the Sleeping Beauty: a motorized canoe built by the British Navy in WWII. If I remember correctly, a diver could recline in it and be launched through the torpedo tube of a submarine. Here's a link for more info on that. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorised_Submersible_Canoe

Wow. This is a zombie, back from the past! Try Vintagedoublehose.com forum to see if there's anyone who can help! There might be someone here, as well, but VDH also has scooter enthusiasts.
