I like. I used to have a couple y valves but sold them over the years. Now I'm looking for a couple inexpensive ones so I can "test" a couple of my single hose rebuilds a little deeper than I would otherwise. I want to take my Olympic ice diving too, and I'd feel a little better if my Zeagle were there which I've had under the ice a dozen times at least. Great setup Jaybird. Be sure to let us know how they dive Don

Gosh, fer 10bux, an 2bux shippin', I just had to have this depth gauge: Note the calibrations: they're smaller than five foot increments! Gotta get a Dacor compass now, as I won't be using a console with my Clipper, no-sir! Jaybird

That's a very nice find. These kinds of depth gauges are difficult to find in this kind of condition. Congratulations.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, anybody ever try tapping into the main body so you can use a tee on it? I've been thinking about it for about a year now... Jaybird

Jaybird, It really should not be hard to do. And...I'm almost positive that I saw a Dacor R-4 or Clipper in the 1970s at a dive shop in Salem, Oregon with at least a HP port. The LP port would be more difficult, as it would need to go exactly into the correct place to get to the LP chamber. You can look at this cutaway to see that the LP chamber may not have enough metal to allow for a LP port, at least on the nearest side. The routing of the drill would be critical. I've been wondering the opposite; whether a Dacor Olypmic first stage could be converted to carry the R-4 second stage, cans and lever systems? That, to me, would be the best solution, but I'm not sure that there's room to do so on the first stage. I'll look at mine in a few minutes. John

John, I was thinking, maybe, if you just needed an octo, you might be able to remove the dial-a-breath feature and put the tee there; does that sound right? I'll need to look at the main body further to see if it would be possible to put a tee in it, would be a neat trick if we could, eh?

Jaybird,
That won't work. The dial-a-breath feature is simply a vane that can block off the flow of ambient pressure air up the intake hose. Note, this is ambient pressure, so it won't do anything for a second stage, which needs low pressure air. The only way to work it would be to tap into the low pressure chamber of the main body.

Mine is similarly bad; there is probably no way to combine the Olympic first stage with the R-4 second stage. The Olympic first stage area is not symmetric like it is on the R-4, so there is not the room to do the drilling. John

John, I'm curious about hose routing options for a Olympic reg and my CVS. I've not used the two together (yet) and was wondering if you have. What other single hose Dacor were offered in '76?

Don, I have used my Dacor Pacer regulator with the Dacor Nautilus CVS: The Olympic regulator can also be used, but I recommend using a LP splitter that allows a 90 degree split off the lower LP port. That allows it to come out horizontally, and for easy routing to the inflator hose. It also allows great routing for an octopus. Here is the Olympic mounted on a single 72 with a Mar-Vel Pak, using that LP splitter: John

I do have an adapter setup and I'm going to try out my Olympic this weekend if I can find a good hose configuration. Here is a pic of how its routed currently. Is your Pacer a 70's vintage reg? I do not have any Dacor catalogs from the mid 70s... DD

DD, the Olympic series was available from 1969-79, the Pacer series came out in 1980. The C3N, their double hose of the time, was available from 1974-79... this is coming from the Dacor service manual.

DD, it's an exception performer, it's my go-to-regulator BTW! I've found it to be an effortless breather... Have fun tomorrow my friend, and I can't wait to hear what you think of one of my all time fave SHR's!
