Hey, does anyone know if there are any View Master (Sawyer or GAF) slides out there with scuba/snorkeling as the subject? You know, kinda like this: Jaybird

Linda, hey, that sure was swell! Our last house was a 1960 Ranch that we restored to what it might have looked like. Here's a view of our living room from the kitchen/dining room: And only slightly more on topic: here's a prehistoric shark-tooth I found in the back yard of that house: That must have been a big one! My neighbor had whole sand-dollars, that he'd find, buried in his yard, and I had all sorts of ancient sea-life too, like clams and oysters readily seen, without trying to find anything. Jaybird

No, more like this: We have two of them. I just wondered if they ever made a Sea Hunt version or anything having to do with scuba. There's a G.I. Joe scuba slide set, but... it ain't the same. Got a couple for NASA and they're pretty dang boss too! They made the cameras to make them: I wonder if it'd fit in a waterproof housing! Great, another hobby in the making Jaybird

Linda,
I especially enjoyed the poem at the end. I'm not there yet, but understand the feeling.
Jaybird, don't try for a stereo camera that works underwater. I have a book titled Beneath the Sea in 3-D[/B], by Mark Blum. He describes how the cameras from the 1950s were not suited for stereo macro underwater photos, and that he built his own. He even discusses some aspects of this in his Preface.

Wow, I've never seen a View Master projector before. Interesting! My View Master has the box with it, and it is just like the one in the picture on that retro page, so it must be from 1950! It is a dark brown color. I wasn't around in 1950, though, so I must have picked it up in my adult life... I think my mom still has the one from when I was a kid -- it looks more like Jaybird's. I liked that poem, too, John. I'm not there yet, either, but hopefully we will all live long enough.

As I recall, I did not like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea[/B] because the "divers", while dressed in scuba gear, were walking around on the bottom with champagne-like bubbles and double hose regulators whose hoses refused to float. It really turned me off, as it was easy for this kid to see it was not filmed underwater, but on some stage somewhere.

Jaybird, I've gotta ask, where did you get that image from Mermaids of Tiburon. I've been looking for a good copy of that film for years. I've seen the Youtube clips but your image is soooo much better (and I'm not just talking about the girl).

Sid, here ya go: www.amazon.com/Psychotronica-Vol-Mermaids-Tiburon-Bewitched/dp/B00120TJF4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334592817&sr=8-2There are 2.5 films on the disc: MOT original cut, then recut as a softcore porn, topless, 8th-grade boy's stuff and one called "Yambao" kinda goofy Voodoo film but lots of fun; it's been a few years since I last watched it, but I remember the main character was a smokin' hot cutie in a super skimpy little dress, but I digress ! MOT, is one of the best scuba films I've ever seen; it's almost pornographic in its gratuitous use of dive gear, especially since they show lots and lots of Healthways gear, probably a very good portion of their catalog is used... oh yeah, and they use some USD stuff too...
