Last week's dive at the Destin, Florida, jetties in pretty decent conditions. It can get pretty crowded but it's a nice dive site. I saw a green sea turtle, an octopus and a crab trying to crack open a shell in his hiding place--all on the dive before this one! (Of course.) The camera is the competitor to the GoPro, the Intova Sport Pro HD. Easy to use, easy to hold underwater. I have a Class 10 32mb card in it. Had a little leakage problem at the end of the dive. I'm 99% sure it was around one of the buttons. But (obviously) the footage wasn't damaged. I made five dives while at the Gulf (an additional planned two-tank boat dive was weathered out) and used the PRAM on all of them. No problems that better positioning won't help. Need to work on that. The deepest was 87' and the reg worked like a champ. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUTH4FzcpFI&feature=youtu.be

87 degree water! That was one very nice dive. Thank you for sharing. I have made swims or dives at Destin, but it was in 1967, so my memory is a bit murky. I really enjoyed the feeling of swimming around watching the fish. I also noted the quiet of your Royal Aquamaster; not the bubble noise that I hear in other videos. This was fun to watch.

Jim, VERY COOL! I had a bit of a problem with your titles though... I'll have to show this to my wife, that white-coral-sand looks very familiar: it really helps light things up, don' it? I think the best part about digital is the compact size: imagine what Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Sea Hunt would have looked like with something like what you have: true artistry and extreme ease of use Jaybird

Nice video. I think I must have like a 1,000 dives there. For some reason I never tire of that place over the years.
The sand along the Emerald Coast is pure quartz sand, about 99% quartz, reworked multiple times, it is not coral sand.

John, the first thing I noticed (recalled from so many years ago) with the double-hose the moment my head went underwater was ... "The Silent World," for real. And it was cool to me to hear actual inhales/exhales in the video. I am having a little trouble equalizing with the Swimaster Wideview or I would have worn it--with its new purge valve! When I get my ears right I'll ne taking it on a dive.
Good points, JB. I'm not a video guy but u/w filming is fun. I hope to get better. The Intova is a cool little camera. Red filter to come next. Maybe a light one day. I did have a little leakage issue at the end of the dive. Some water leaked in around a button but Intova is replacing it. I just really like the little camera.
James, I'm with you. I've only three dives there now but it is a great place to dive. Very easy, very comfortable and a whole lot of variety that changes dive-to-dive to enjoy seeing. One of those juvenile sea bass and I sat mationless looking at each other for quite a while. I kept slowly entending my hand toward it, getting a little closer each time before it would back up a bit....and then return. He finally rose off the sand a bit and let me pet him down his side and then he swam past me over my right shoulder. I turned my head to watch him, he stopped, turmed around, and swam slowly in front of me and let me pet him again as he went by. So much to see and enjoy there! Do let me know when you're in the area and up for another dive there.
