Dave, I sure have, that's how I got my fascination with guided missiles! If you ever have a chance I highly recommend it. I was talking with one of the docents a while back, he was a guard: his dog was a 176-lbs Belgian Sheppard! He said that animal was terrifying, even to him--I'll stick with cats. The bunker/magazine that they kept them in is called, "The Acropolis". You can go inside one of them, you ride along side a Nike Hercules as they raise and lower it. A few times a day they put one of them into firing position, with siren blaring: I have to say that kinda made my blood run cold, knowing that they are/were ballistic nuclear weapons carrying a 28-kt warhead. The safety-pin in the nose was kinda reassuring, to be removed before firing: not that these are live anymore, but suspension of disbelief is kept pretty high... I think I know where the old magazine is in San Leandro (my town). If you know where the approximate location of one is, you can figure it out pretty fast. Look for a rampart, built up earthworks, and a heavy concrete "parking lot": they usually cave them in an fill them with concrete. Also, there are a few underground utilities to act as a guide... I took the Snark apart and cleaned it up, then put it back together: it took me almost an hour to get the (expletive deleted) circlip back in man that was pure evil: the way they stack their filters is just like the Conshelfs, but for some reason it just didn't want to line up, grumble, grumble, grumble... I did a test without checking anything, and it seems to breath just fine. I'll read the manual and see how to adjust the IP etc. The gizzards of this thing remind me a bit of the Dacor C3-Clipper. Last night my wife and I went to the thrift store, she needed a decent pie plate that she knew she wouldn't get back: she's baking a cherry pie for our towns first annual Cherry Festival. San Leandro used to grow cherries As usual, I like to check out the old dive gear that somehow shows up. She's been wanting a wetsuit, but has been kinda nervous about buying one: she's a very short, fat lady(there are only three letters in fat, NOT FOUR! ) A new custom made suit is, as WE ALL KNOW, is going to cost a few vital organs! Guess what we found... Somebody's cut the beaver-tail off of it, so I need to put one back on for her. Luckily I know how to use a sewing machine really well, and mine should be able to handle the job, it's from the 1930's and isn't one of those really wimpy pieces of ca-ca they make now days. The brand is Z90, I believe that's Zeagle, no? Jaybird

Okay, it's not actually old, but: We went walking out at the old Point Molate Naval Fuel Depot, and we went to look at an old shipwreck in that was sticking out of the water. On the way back I was looking at some junk that was piled up on the bluff above the shore, and noticed red and white... I thought to myself, naaaaaw, it couldn't be, yup! The emblem is a vinyl decal, but it's still pretty boss! Jaybird

One of the last whaling stations in the US was closed in 1971--WTF!!!!! Please read further here: www.baycrossings.com/Archives/2003/05_June/the_last_whaling_station.htmHere are some images of "Moby Dick" whale meat labels: www.flickr.com/photos/kqedquest/sets/72157594564059217/detail/?page=2WOW, I find this very shocking as I really thought we, as the US, had been done with that for way longer. Very much akin to the Great Lakes, and what we've done to them: I would have thought they would be teaming with life, but Don told me, then I asked my wife who used to live in Milwaukee, "No, not really, I have seen sturgeon while walking along the shore, but for the most part not..." Oh-bu-dah-boy! I won an auction last week because I wanted another Healthways SPG for my Scuba Star. It also had a Calypso-III which is really nice has the original box an stuff, but, there was a 1970 Dacor catalog too: I decided to do an image with my Olmpic-400 on the Olympic page, kinda spiff, no?
