Hi
Now for something completely different, I finally have my DSV-1 unit up and working and it works Fantastic. I hooked up my Aga mask with OTS coms to it and went for a 130 foot dive with a freind and it performed like a charm.

I just re-configured my UDS-1 again, this time to re-orient the LP inflator hose and take out the restriction of the one hose from the manifold to the LP outlets. The way it was, the LP inflator hose was not long enough, and did not position itself well on my BC. So I ran my long LP line from the auxillary LP port on the manifold directly into my A.I.R. I second stage. This way, the only restriction is at the seat itself, and that is an HP restriction.
Ron, what is a DSV-1 unit? I like the idea of a FFM with communication. Tell us more.

I just had a request for finding out where the little spring goes in the UDS-1 manifold. I forgot to include this photo in the above collection, and so thought it appropriate to add it here: As you can see, the little spring is used to keep the sintered filter, which is unique in the UDS-1 manifold system, in place internally. The sintered filter on all other manifolds is the initial contact point. In this system, it is before the air goes to the regulator or the second and third cylinders. This is a different, but very cleaver, design. Here's a closer view: John

Hi guys, I have a good UDS-1 system (with a filler hose problem) which I am willing to sell or part out or trade. I have posted it before just in case you missed it, tanks are all in hydro and casings are good(yellow). I decided a while ago to concentrate on my two hosers and simplified diving(grass roots) like the early years. Let me know if anyone is interested, I don't sell through ebay. Michel A.

Hi everybody, Sorry if I have not been able to reply to your interest nor post photos(I,mstill working on the how to since I don't have a digital camera at the moment and it's a little hard to scan a 'UDS-1' on my desktop). I've also joined a new firm and am crazy busy, I will make an effort to get some pictures up with a friend's help. Thanks for being patient. Cheers, Michel A.

I know this is an old post but I have a little tech info to add. While the tank neck thread has been listed as 1" straight pipe thread, it is not. At least on my set (which is now being used as a set of doubles and a single) the thread is 1.250-12 UNF-2B.

Does anybody know where I can get UDS-1 tanks hydroed and eddy current tested? Every place that I have checked can't handle the thread size.
Thanks,

Well, I haven't written about my UDS-1 for quite some time, but recently I made a bit of a breakthrough--or at least I think I have. The filler hose with the leaky non-return valve that I wrote about above (and show in one of the photos above) doesn't leak anymore, at least to 1000 psig. I had the LDS put an O-ring on the conical valve, inside it actually. They used their smallest gauge O-ring, and rolled it up and onto the small shaft inside the valve. Now, instead of metal-to-metal, it's got an O-ring in between, and so far it's holding pressure. This will allow the unit to function as designed.
I never cease to be amazed at the small things that are overlooked by designers and engineers, which make all the difference in the world. For want of an O-ring, the filling system of the UDS-1 was became a problem.

Hi Guys Thought maybe a few of you would like to see a photograph of the replacement Fill hose I use on a UDS systems. Ron Ron, if you are out there, I'd like to talk to you about this arrangement that you put together for your UDS-1. My filler hose broke at the fill end, where the filler attaches to the hose. I need to get that fixed to use the UDS-1 again, as it cannot be filled right now. John
