"How do I know this? Well, I have one set up on my twin 42s in the garage right now. I bought it in about 1980 or so, and I'm looking at the Sherwood catelog with them in it. This valve serves exactly what you envision it, and I have taken it one step further. I mounted it backwards, so that the reserve is on my right side, and the second post is on the left, pointing backwards. This way, the left post does not interfere with the double hose regulator on the center post, and the reserve lever cannot be knocked down."
Yes, I had thought there would be interference both with a hookah fitting (no problem with the Mistral) and also with the single hose reg being in the way of one of the hoses. Thus I had thought to either flip the manifold as you describe or to flip the center outlet up. Flipping the center manifold up would eliminate interference with the hookah fitting. Is there a reason one is better than the other? Thanks in advance. No matter how it gets set up, one way or the other this is gonna be good!!. Nemrod

Nemrod, I'd recommend against flipping the center post upside down. I have done that with my twin 50 on a USD twin manifold, but only because I have it mounted on aluminum tanks. When it's in the down position, I have interference between my LP hoses and the tanks for my Trieste II setup, and so mounted it with the on-off valve down. This pretty well precludes turning the manifold off in the water, but it is the best compromise I have to use it on the twin 50s. With my twin steel 42s, I continue to keep the center post in the normal position (on/off knob up), as this is the ideal position for the double hose regulator. It places the regulator about two inches below the manifold, between the shoulder blades, where it is the easiest breathing. Switching the center post to the up position (valve knob down) is a difference in water pressure of about 4 inches, which is significant in suction effort. Since I use the military harness, there is no interferrence with the backpack for filling or regulator mounting. I'm asking Linda to post a photo of my setup, which includes my own BC and fin designs, in this posting. John
