Gosh, I saw that when it first came out, I was eleven, and the only thing I remember is something about eels... I am a huge fan of Peter Benchley's grandfather Robert: man, that guys was droll... wickedly sarcastic sense of humor JB

Don't look now mark, but there is a GSD Spinnaker on ebay right now! It'll set you back a tidy little some of $250 though. That's on my list of wanted gear. Unfortunately, its a bit steeper than I can afford.

I am so new to diving I had to look up the Spinnaker Reg. LOL!!! I noticed that and had never seen anything like it before. Nice selections of vintage mid-1970's "wetsuits"... Looks like my Wife is going to start on her Open Water Certification sometime after the New Year. Have to get her to watch this and get some pointers on vintage diving LOL!!! Mark

DD, I looked at the one you mentioned on eBait. Looks like it's p'rolly a tilt-valve 'cause it's has a birst-disc, on the first stage, which I'm guessing does the same as an over pressure valve. Tilt-valves are super easy breathers, especially since they figured out out what they were doing to make them dynamic... Well, considering that it came out the same year as "Star Wars", it's not a wonder I don't remember much about it; that was the film that literally changed the movie industry! It kinda turned every kid into Beavis as far as thinking about anything else: Regaurds, Cornholio

I was six in the Summer of '77, seeing "Star Wars" was probably the most important thing that happened to me that year. Never mind that I missed the whole Punk Rock thing going on...was not until 1990 that I finally got into the Sex Pistols. This topic sure has gotten off track, no thanks to me LOL!! Mark

To see my wife today, you'd never know she was a punk back in the day. It's always funny when kids today think their music is wild, some of the stuff she'll whip out is still withering to the ears, "Move over junior, you ain't heard nuthin' yet!" Siouxsie and the Banshees are still one of faves... JB

Even when I was a teen in the 1980's the "punk" we had available to us was tame compared to the actual mid-late 70's Punk. Missed it by a few years, plus having been stranded in the midwest, I'd probably not have gotten it then anyway? Mark

So, I didn't realize they were using Dacor Olympic-200's, and nearly all Dacor gear in this movie--AWESOME! Gosh, Nick Nolte had a really boss wraparound mask, we needta get a coupla those, eh DD? An' what the heck kinda reg was ol' Jacqueline Bisset usin'... or was it that tee shirt and her, well, you know, that kept anyone from noticing how tiny that regulator was: it actually looked like a piece of ca-ca the way it was making her mask bounce and flutter on exhalation.

Mask??? Oh, sure. She had one or two of them, right? Nick had a GSD Spinnaker. Not very common and expensive when they do show up on Fleebay. I suspect its because of the movie that they get bid up when the do show up. I forget what Jacqueline used but I recall the article suggested (or perhaps elsewhere) that the reg was chosen for its size rather than function. The stars face needed to be seen. Right. I too like wrap around masks as do several others here. I have a Scubapro, a Dacor and a US Divers that I use. Of the three I like my US Divers best. It just fits me well. None really look like the one he's using. That mask seems like it has more of an arch, but I'll look at mine again a little later. Perhaps its Italian also?
