My wife and I are long-time scuba divers (near 30 yrs) and still have my original reg and mask (which we are looking to make a "vintage display" of our old gear). This past weekend at a yard sale we came across a guy selling this old rubber US Navy bag with some gear inside which included a Voit/AMF Navy reg (looks all original but in good shape), Voit 40 Fathom 2nd stage, Voit depth guage, horse-collar BC, weights, Voit neoprene mask and a plastic formed snorkel. I'll get some pics to post. The whole kit is just cool. I'm more familiar with AquaLung so I was not aware of Voit/AMF too much. Upon looking this rig up, I see it's similar/same to US Divers DA Aquamaster. And seeing on eBay some other Voit/AMF models running in the $350 range, I'm curious what the "Navy" model runs, haven't seen any for sale nor how rare they are. That and now seeing this site - I'm debating refurbing it and diving it (I still have my original steel 2250PSI tank, just swapped the Y valve for K valve). If I do, I'll surely keep the original parts just because. Any pointers, feedback, etc? 20160628_121548 (Medium) by Dave, on Flickr 20160628_121556 (Medium) by Dave, on Flickr 20160628_121529 (Medium) by Dave, on Flickr

Ahoy shipmate, an' a hearty welcome to ya: aye! About Voit gear: IMO it's completely overpriced usually! It's not that it not great stuff, but just like mid-1950's Chevy's, people get way too sentimental about them, and become willing to pay outrageous prices because, well pick a reason... If I dismember correctly, the Navy, is the same as the DA Aquamaster: these are superb regs, I mean really and truly! You can get nearly anything you want to restore it from Karl and Rob at the Scuba Museum: gosh like super swell silicone diaphragms and hoses--WHOOOO-HOOOOO! Please ask questions: there is no such thing as a stupid question, stoooopid questions are the ones you don't ask, and then look dumb because you were too afraid to ask Jaybird

Oh, BTW, I do own some Voit gear: one is actually rare, the VCR-5 50 Fathom, and the sorta-kinda rare, Titan-II, but got them locally for realistic prices...

Awesome, thank Jaybird. Honestly, value to me (on this) is just a reference. I have no intention to sell for I've been looking for a DH rig for some time. To come across this deal, I guess my lottery ticket in a sense came in. I would've been happy with any DH for our little vintage display, but to find this is that good of a rig, wow! OK, dare I say it - got all in the pics for $10 at the garage sale.
For grins I may rebuild it just because. Maybe dive once/twice - or get bit and dive a lot. ;-)

Nice stuff there JB. That looks just like my Dacor 2250PSI steel 72 too (my first tank). I just wish I still had my 2 backpacks - one straps like that on your tank, the other had "custom" SS over-shoulder bands made by my dad.
I've gotta say I'm blessed with my wife, she dives more than me nowadays (commercial diver). I'm an ex-PADI instructor, so I still have more dives than her tho! :-P

BTW, where are you? I'm in the SF Bay Area: we have some really great people in the Great Lakes areas that I'm pretty envious of...

Searat-John is in Oregon: he's like a walking encyclopedia of scuba knowledge: he's the one that got me hooked on HW gear... JB

I may be wrong, but I think yours has a hooka port: you can add a tee to this and run your peripheries from there, BC and octo. Hmmmm, that 40-Fathom may be the one with the weird levers inside, but I was thinking it might be a fun octo for this reg You can get a banjo fitting to run an SPG... JB

Great find. The Voit Navy is a USD DA Aquamaster in different cans, internally they are exactly the same. All the parts you need to restore it to better than original are available and there are several upgrades you can add as well if you so choose. As a rule Voits command higher prices for several reason, they were used on SeaHunt, in the James Bond Movies and there were a lot less of them sold so they tend to me less common.

As I am an ex-Navy guy and grew up watching SeaHunt, this was a bonus find for sure. Tho I have to admit not remembering which reg model Mike Nelson used...just recall the DH.

Spamcan, Lloyd Bridges, aka Mike Nelson, used several different regulator and tank sets for Sea Hunt, sometimes in the same episode/scene. We used to have fun watching for these discrepancies in the show when I watched it as a kid. Now, about your finds. No one has mentioned that bag. That looks like one of those Navy bags that can be folded in such a way as to maintain a water-tight seal for UDT members to bring things to shore that might need to be waterproof. We have a guy, DavidRichieWilson from the UK who may be able to coach us on how to fold that bag so as to make it watertight. He works with old-style dry suits and seals them, so he may have some input. Just looking at it, it may date back to the Korean War era. The mask is a Swimaster Wide View mask, which usually had a neoprene seal (rather than the normal seal, this was a foam neoprene). If cleaned up, and the seal replaced, this is a nice mask. The Voit 40 Fathom is indeed the one with the weird levers. Here's a photo of them in the AM Aqua-Matic (same regulator)Q John
