So, Crabby is under the weather. He still has the crud. I plan to go down to Monterey tomorrow anyway to test out a couple regs.
The winners for getting dove (sic) are: #1 The Sjuba; #2 DivAir plastic; #3 50 Fathom (if I have any energy left). I wish I could try all of my untested regs, but they'll get done eventually.
JB, stand by for an in-depth report on the Sjuba. If it's good (I know it is) PLEASE consider learning the 3D program which will allow us to print the Snorkeljet. I have some suggestions for improving the design (minor), but what do I know?

Phil, for your Scuba-duckbill, you made the form out of wood then used vegetable/salad oil as a mold release: is this correct? I'm hoping to make a form for a duckbill for our Divairs. It will use a metal armature to keep its shape Is the exhaust on your lanuuminum (aluminum) the same as yer plas'ic (plastic) version? JB

They look much the same, but this is not 100% as I'm relying on my memory. BIG mistake. I looked at my Munimula (Ruff and Reddy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeDsG-chCKI) DivAir with the Vance duckbill in mind. I went as far as to stick an unusable very early attempt in and it fit great. It would be glued in w/ RTV. Question 1: Would yours be substantially different? I did not use a release on my dip mold. It was turned from wood dowel and finished with a few coats of urethane. The DB rolls right off like a condom. This kind of talk is what led to some inappropriate comments from several members. Shame on you. I did it too. I went as far as to suggest a condom duckbill. Heh. Question 2: An armature? I'd love to see what you're thinking, but a simple Vance DB would work perfectly, is what I'M thinnin' Babalooey. BTW, I did not go to Monterey to test. I felt it was too much for 1 day, and, while not totally opposed to diving alone (I have done it) was reluctant to fib to my wife about having a buuuuddy. Question 3: Is a white lie wrong?

Mmmmmm, that one ain't white, sorta charcoal gray. Rule number one in my book, try never to lie. Rule number two, never ever, under any circumstances lie to my wife--that's just a rill stuuupid idea Yes, my duckbill would be much different than yours; I'll call mine Mr. Jinks, I love big orange cats JB

Okay, I'm going to move some posts into this thread at Vance's request. In order to do that, I need to bring this thread into the front of the line, hence this post. Wish we luck.
John
PS, not working so far...I'll need more time to figure out how to do this.

Between Jaybird and myself, the two posts I wanted to move are now shown above. I was trying too hard, and didn't click on a button on the left side.
Now that they are here, how does the DivAir breath underwater? It appears that there is no duckbill for the exhaust, so how does that work? Curious minds (who see the second generation Healthways Scuba as an offshoot of the DivAir) want to know.

My limited experience with the DivAir (pool only) was good. I did not experience exhaust hose flooding, nor did any of the several people who tried it out in the pool. It is a good breathing regulator, and seems to provide all the air you'd need at 8-10 feet in a pool . I really want to try mine out, but I don't want to subject my alloy unit to salt water. So, it'll have to wait 'til I get to my lake dive.
