Hi Skip, if I'm not mistaken, you'll be wanting a 23mm for the exhaust: also, the one I had used the same sized diaphragm as a USD. I can't see them changing diaphragm sizes for a down stream and up stream valve... Also, didn't Nemrod have a baffle plate kinda thing to help redirect the air flow? Get us some pix, I'll help if need be JB

It seems like the boys at Nemrod must have really pissed off Mr. Cousteau if the diaphragm is the same size as the USD. There is a bunch of DAAAM parts can be used to keep a Snark 3 working.

There was something about patent law that allowed Spanish manufacturers to thumb their noses at old JC. Probably, it was some sort of "Your laws don't apply here, a-hole!" kina deal. Distantly remembered factoid. Take it or leave it. The outright copying of the DA in the Snark III HP valve is obvious. Even though they went with a different style second stage, the fact that you can replace so many Snark III parts with USD parts HINTS (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) at some infringements. Which Nemrod model do you have? I've had Ibizas and Snark IIs that were tilt valves. The Delta, Servo, (Silver II?) etc. had downstream seconds. I like the looks of the Ibiza. Nice little regulator.

Here is a photo I took in 1968 of Stephen Samo diving off our Naha Air Base, Okinawa (now part of Japan) for fish. He's using our issued USD Calypso II, which is mounted on our PJ jump tanks. Here is a photo of one of our heros of the Vietnam War, Bill Pitsenbarger. I did not know Bill, but every PJ anywhere knows of him. He is a Medal of Honor recipient for his mission in Vietnam. Here he is with a first generation USD Calypso regulator, ready to jump from a HU-16B Albatross amphibian aircraft prior to his service in Vietnam. Here is his entire story; I present this because today is Vietnam Veteran's Day (March 29), and Bill's memory deserves some mention today. John

Phil, I have a Snark II silver. There is a pic on the "Nemrod Museum" site that shows a diver with one similar to mine. They say its from the 1969 catalogue.

John, fate is a very funny thing: we have you, and not him. Would he have asked me for help writing his memories? Would I have seen something different in him that would make me want to get a Healthways instead of a US Divers? Would I have sat in his house with him talking about things we have in common? I don't know, but what I do know is that we have you and not him: fate is a very funny thing. So thank you for sharing what you have with us, but more importantly thank you for being a friend.

Nice one! For some reason I really like Nemrod regs. Here's one of my favorites:
These have the most difficult to reassemble second stages I've ever worked with. The two tiny screws that hold the tilt valve cover on are nearly impossible to get back in, and the case ring expands so far and is so strong you need to be Superman to get it squeezed together enough to engage the screw. On top of that, the barrel nut wants to turn under or over so you can't find the threaded hole much less start the screw in it. Here's CJ's senario of needing a 4 handed gorilla to reassemble one!

Thanks for the remembrance of a true hero on Vietnam Veterans' Day, John. Nowadays, the word hero has been cheapened so much that when I saw John use the word I flinched a bit: but I was also thinking, "Wait, I know that name--WHY!" Because of John. Why has it been made less of what it should: because people think that if someone is a doctor, police officer, fireman or soldier, that automatically makes them heroic... Being heroic means doing something above and beyond what you are asked: what Mr. Pitsenbarger did was way beyond what most people will do. I can't help wonder if he knew his fate was sealed, most probably, and yet, he was still trying to help because he knew he could make a difference. Every combat veteran I've ever met has a "je ne sais quoi", a certain mysterious quality to them, an aloofness, that you really can't pin down until you know how to recognize it. So, yes, thank you, all of you, hero or not JB

Diggin' the clear dust cap! Mark I think it's cool too. My third Snark 3 #09243 has a clear dust cap also, and the original cork float
