Hi all,
Been out of town in the Sierras, off the grid for a week. OMG, the stars....
Going back tomorrow to Sequoia National Park for some more mountain action for 4 days, but this time it's luxury-city. Sleeping indoors, that is. It got to be about 30 degrees at night last week, and sleeping outside at that temp is a bit cool. It was awesome to wake up and see the big dipper framed between a couple of 150 ft. trees, though. 20 times a night.....
Relevance? I'm not doing any work on regulators for a while. I'll get back to the mod when I have a spare minute.

I've been thinking about the mod. I'll try a Conshelf VI first stage, and will mod the IP adjuster as a mount. I'll make a new adjuster that is longer, and cut the adjuster holder/HP diaphragm holder at the adjuster end to make a nice flat surface for the gasket/can interface. A flanged nut will hold it to the can from the inside.
A 3 way LP adapter will be installed to provide ports and should provide a very convenient second stage LP pressure source and second stage mount. Hopefully, the tube and mount will be a straight shot, requiring no bends in the tube. Remember that this will have an external tube/hose that will feed the second stage. I will post pics of progress, if there's any....

Did some turning today. We'll see...

Worked on the Conshelf doublehose mod last couple weeks. I cut a part to see if I could get a reasonable can/first stage interface, but ran into problems with my lathe. I'm doing a bearing upgrade on it, and it will take some time. Once done, things will be better.
I want to make a screw-on mount: Conshelf to the can, then lead an LP tube to a second stage, which will connect to the can straight down the bore of the intake horn for hella venturi effect. This might take some time, but I will report back to the board as things progress.

The lathe got new spindle bearings and a tune up over the past several days. Everything is done, but I'm held up by a fuse! Got one coming by tomorrow, hopefully. Then, I should be able to get some work done on the Conshways double hose regulator (rev1). Or maybe Mistshelf (rev1)?

Got the fuse, finished turning the parts. This shows the Conshelf with the nut on the newly threaded HP seat retainer: Here's some detail. Nothing fancy, just a flange, gasket, and nut will hold the first stage to the can: I'll try hard to include a pin to retain orientation ala the Mistral kina single stage regs. This is kind of crucial, since having a can that might rotate from handling will potentially decrease performance by a lot!

Now the fun part: devising a tube-fed second stage. I might try the singlehose second stage mod I was fooling with before that incorporates an integral and adjustable seat. A second stage cap/lever carrier like my Dacor DH mod used will need to be made, but that's cake!
