I've got my first project of the winter going, a Scubapro MK7/108. I've got the first stage apart with all the orings accounted for and labeled. Has anybody got any tips on removing the seat from the holder on the first stage? There is a pin hole on the carrier which it looks like its there to push the seat out from the reverse. The hole is so small all I can find to push with is a pin. The Utube video I watched the guy said to use a wood screw. Anybody got any other ideas?
Thanks in advance Skip

Let me think in this, but, until it is confirmed, I would not use a wood screw. Are you sure he didn't say to use a wood dowl?

He said a wood screw. A dowel would need to be about half the diameter of a toothpick. I tried a safety pin and all I managed to do was bend the pin.

Let me look at one of my Mk 7 first stages, and I'll get back to you in a day or so.

Hey Skip,
You can remove the HP seat by place an air blow gun with the pressure of +/- 10 Bar on the tiny hole and it will pop out (mostly) The seat will not be demolished on this way, and you can re use it. By the rebuild you can turn the HP seat.
Good luck and greetings, Kees de Ronde

I just hold the hole side up to a tank valve and give it a squirt of air. Works every time.

Hey Skip, if ya can't get it working, use a Mk-V and just add some weight to the tank valve then stuff a kazoo into one side of your exhaust tee... I think that should give you a good approximation of the audio warning Sorry buddy, I couldn't resist! JB

I tried putting it on the face of a 3442 psi tank and opening the valve, the sucker didn't budge. I'll have to get a rubber tipped blow gun and try that.

JB- I have a couple MK5's on the to do list. I like the idea of the kazoo though

Mark I'm guilty of not being clear also. I did try it on my aluminum triples. They only have about 300 psi in them, the HP 117 was easy to get at, and it does have the insert in it. Tomorrow I'm going to try again using one of the "vintage" style USD washer/orings to get a better seal

The rubber-tipped blowgun is what I've always used. Scubapro provided a seat that was a little harder to get out during the 90's. It's red. You might try the old heat-it-up trick before attempting to blow it out. I like to soak the plug in hot water for 10 minutes or so, then try to blow it out. That may be challenging since the plastic seat and the brass plug have different coefficients of thermal expansion.
When all else fails, drill a small hole to accept a wood screw and use that screw to pull seat out. Scubapro requires replacement of that seat at any service, so you'll need a new one anyway.
Good Dives, Charlie

I tried using the vintage washer/oring today and got nowhere.
Charlie- thanks for the idea I'll give that a shot tomorrow.

All else failed so I used the wood screw method and it worked like a charm. I was going to put it together today, but got called in to work...……...tomorrows another day. Thanks for the help guys
