Well, my family had a great Thanksgiving time, with both my sons and their wives here for the Thanksgiving dinner. We then went down to Portland and watched the lighting of the Christmas tree at Pioneer Square yesterday. It was a great time getting together, telling stories, and enjoying each other's company. Nothin' to do with diving, but it was very nice to get together.

Thanksgiving was nice for me as well. I went to my parents house. I consider myself very lucky. I'm almost 60 and I still have both of my parents. They need more help these days, but I'll take helping them over the alternative. My son and his girl friend came over as well. They dropped the big news of the day, they're getting married. All in all a good day.

My Arizona nephew came out to So. Cal. with his current wife and kids for Thanksgiving. He has taken up the new hobby of black bear hunting with bow and arrow so I got to see all of his pics of shooting bear, skinning bear, cooking bear meat, making bear-skin rugs, etc... Not my cup of tea but that was our Thanksgiving. The Norwegian contingent came over from Oslo (my niece married a Viking) and we spent a lot of time discussing spearfishing for huge 600 lb Halibut in the Atlantic-side fiords - apparently it's a group effort. They wanted to make sure I knew that Thanksgiving wasn't a wildly popular holiday (or no holiday) in Norway. Ah..... family.

Reviving this old thread instead of making a new one. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.
My family had a very nice get-together, and the grandbaby had her first Thanksgiving! I made a 25 lb turkey for the 15 of us, and everyone brought a dish for dinner.
I got to go to school on making gravy with my son-in-law the chef. I've always been proud of my roux skills, but now I'm a level up!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! We had my son Brian and his wife, Sokhemry, over for Thanksgiving dinner, with a large 20 pound turkey. It was a nice visit, and we were able to do a video call with my other son, Nathan, his wife Qian and our grandson, Obi. Obi was in rare form, as about two years old he was punching buttons on the iPad and causing us to get emojies, then turning us off a couple of times. It was fun to see him so engaged.
Afterwards, we cleaned up the turkey, taking the meat off, then washing the dishes (my chore). We have a bunch of leftovers, and finished just about 1:00 AM.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!
We had some friends from church over and a very good Thanksgiving here. Mid-day main meal of turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potatoe casserole, rolls, devilled eggs, 3 different pies..... all good stuff, lol. Afterward was hanging out and boardgames/cardgames.
On a note specific to this group, I'm thankful for this eclectic group of vintage gear enthusiasts.... Thank you all for helping make this a bright an fun little corner of the interwebs!
Best,
James

We went to visit my mother in law: she has Alzheimer's and broke her shoulder on Monday as my wife was taking her to get an MRI I made a chicken with thyme and sage and my wife made a pumpkin pie, we brought her mom a piece which she devoured. We had dinner, just the two of us at home and had a pint each of my homemade beer made with currants, sagebrush and mugwort. JB

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. My wife and I are currently in Florida visiting with her rather large family. We all are having a great time and one of her family members is an avid diver and underwater photographer. He has some amazing photos and stories. Unfortunately, he is not a vintage diver, but he is open to learning about it.
My wife’s brother in law used to dive years ago, but gave it up for blue water sailing. He did, however, give me a Nikonos III and strobe to take back to Hawaii. He even threw in a pair of USD rocket Fins. Family vacations are great. 👍

You know, I was taking my normal afternoon nap on the couch, and looked around simply to thank God for all that I have right now. Our home, Chris, the boys and a grandchild; when we moved into the house, I could not envision that. It was late 2001 and it was a brand new house. Now, we've been in it for over 20 years. A lot has happened during that time, changes in jobs (four), retirement, finding new things to do, and obviously, diving. We've done a lot in the last 20 years to promote vintage equipment diving, increasing its safety, the performance of regulators, and exposing others to this wonderful equipment for diving. As you know, I really enjoy sharing this underwater world with people using underwater photography. Here's a few of my photos that I haven't yet shown here. Hidden Fish by John Ratliff, on Flickr Deceptive Camo by a fish (you see it?). IMG_2879 by John Ratliff, on Flickr In the winter, the sponge goes into hybernation. Here you see the white balls which will become more sponge in the next year. A snail, I think, has eaten a trail in the sponge too.
